Well my personal recommendation would be an AMD 64 system.

A socket 939 AMD 64 3000 1.8GHz Whinchester should do the job nicely. Its just over €130 for a retail version last I looked. Great overclocker You probably pick a decent 939 motherboard for around €100 euro as well. Asus, Abit, MSI have some good boards out. Just make sure they support the winchester chip before buying them. Some motherboards need a bios update to support them.

Since the platform only spports up to pc 3200 no point going any higher. You be able to pick up a gig of ram for around €180. Kingmax usually have cheap ram. Geil has some good value ram pc 3200 last I looked. Remember tighter timings the better for amd 64. Look for timings as close to 2-2-2-5 as possible. 3-2-3-5 would not too bad i guess.
