Looking for a nice pub in dublin city centre to go for few drinks with friends to celebrate my 18th. We usually go to pub near college but wanna go somewhere different this time! Needs to be very central and relaxd. We'll be going straight from college so nowhere with strict dress code. Any ideas? Thanks!

If I was you id say to the pub that its a 21st as most pubs dont generally do 18th because you get a lot of underagers at 18ths so bar managers dont like em. The Voodoo is a good venue tho, iirc you can rent out upstairs

Are you looking for somewhere you can dance etc or just somewhere for a nice pint ?

Well preferably you should try somewhere they don't know yis, cos if you're only turning 18 they might be pissed off if you've been drinking there underage before. I know there's nothing they can do but they might just be annoyed.

Good places with no dress codes: Doyles I suppose, Thing Mote (not sure about it now though, they killed it and it's O'Donoghues now) or if you're all gonna be fairly respectably dressed try Messrs Maguires. I love that pub.

I had my 18th in Bruxelles.... god I hate that place

Dorans is always good for a giggle, thing mote is dull and boring.

I'm not going to book anything, want it to be low key and just a few of us going out for a drink. Doesn't need to be somewhere we can dance, we can continue on to a club if we so wish!

I'd say Voodoo, Kiely's or Zanzibar.

But then I wouldn't know much..since I'm underage by two years.
