    Hi All,

I'm looking at buying some new kit and would like some advice.

    sound card
I don't have a clue about sound cards. What I'm looking for is a standard card that supports surround sound?

    monitor
I'm thinking about the IIyama Vision Master Pro 454 19" CRT, from either elara or overclockers. Also saw that monitor recommended in this thread on this board. A bit pricey, but unless anyone knows of any complaints about it, I'll be going with that one.

    Any advice is appreciated,
    Craig.

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/creative_soundcards.html

scroll down to the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS 7.1 THX Sound Card - OEM (SC-023-CL)

for £52 it's top of the range and will support 7 speakers with one subwoofer, plus if you're getting that monitor from OCUK you'll save with the shipping as shipping the monitor alone is £22 and that's their max shipping charge.

You can get the audigy 2 for 129euro in pcworld with thief:deadly shadows and hitman:contracts free. Was tempted to get it meself but then decided not to. (bought about a dozen dvds instead though :P)
