I'm really lame and don't know how to tie shoe laces.

For the past few years I've been dependent on Magic Self-Tying Shoelaces. (They work by a process of coiled elastics) But they are hard to come across.

Does anyone know were I might find a pair in Ireland?

check out most Clark`s shoe shops, they usually do them.
    or kids shoe type shops.

Great stuff. I'll try there then.

My current pair came from the aquarium in Cork apparently...

You can't lace shoes with velcro.

self tying sounds too good to be true are they actually just elastic laces that you tie once and don't tie again again because the elasticity allows slip-on/slip-off

Maybe they're just the ones which are like elasticated coils?
People in primary school had them, I think...

They are like long elastic springs. You pull them through the holes and the snap into position, but can't go back through the hole unless you pull them from the other side. They work pretty well... mine are slightly perished at the moment as I've been using them for about 3 years.

why not just have "lace-tying" classes?

i used to have them when i was young, they rocked :D
but the only ones i ever had came in really lurid colours(fluorescent green/orange), never saw them in 'normal' colours :(
also havent seen them in years :(
i wouldnt mind picking up a pair of black ones nowadays,
they're great if you're really lazy too

It's just one of those things you can only really learn when you are a kid, I missed out on lots of things... like swimming, cycling and using the potty...

actually I can do that last one...

And I've only ever had black magic laces...

That's realy terrible, I'll write out some instructions, stick on a few pictures, and you can memorise it.

I don't think it will work.

An Israelite spent several hours trying to teach me earlier in the year but with no success... and if an Israelite can't do it, then no one can... I have even tried watching a particularly informative episode of King Rolo.

hmmmm, I love laces, you're missing out on so much! My laces can be seen from a mile away, so I never get lost.
