We've all heard them before... your ears are burning, wha'? - Someone must be talking about you! ... A sudden shiver, eh? - Someone must be walking on the site of your grave! ... Here's me now wondering what the superstition connected with an itchy nose is... anyone know it? (Does it mean, as I suspect, that you're going to be in a fight,... or at least a bit of aggro'.. ?)

and anyone got any more weird superstitions to add?

( Yes... I'm bored. Long weekend coming up, tho' - and it starts this evening smile.gif )

I have seen Ghostbusters a few times so I think I know something about these matters.

An itchey nose may have a connection to superstition and the spiritual world. Ectoplasm does look alot like snot. Food (picture that) for though! smile.gif

Actually - an itchy nose means you're going to ahve a fight with someone. A friend of mine makes the closest person slap her hand and she saps them back every time she has an itchy nose - that's the fight smile.gif

    All the best,

"Let's fight!" ... "Them's fightin' words!" ... "So they is!" ... *biff!* *pow!* *etc.!*

    (the Simpsons, wasn't it?)

Hey - yer headin' steadily toward 3,000 posts Kharn, m8... fancy a fight?

Actually- sort of off-topic... if Fight Clubs existed ... (and who says they don't, I guess!) ... would you join one?

No.If you want to be hurt, take up rugby. Its more fun than being punched by a lard.a.rse( though this will happen occasionally too).
If you must be punched regularly then take up boxing in the safe(?) confines of a gym smile.gif

And now my right ear is burning...

Nah - I disagree about getting hurt playing rugby... that's hardly the point of the game. My brother plays it and I'm sure he can vouch that he hasn't gotten seriously hurt or injured through playing it (very much)...

my question still stands about fight clubs, btw... the point isn't to get hurt specifically, - if you've seen the movie, you'll understand the potential attraction.

While I was in secondary school in DLS Chruchtown, one guy broke his neck and was permanently paralysed, another did something major to his spine and also ended up in a wheelchair.

So I do beleive you can be hurt playing rugby. Thank God I was way too lazy to ever do it smile.gif

We used to play rugby in secondary school too. We had some coaches from the local club but most of us were pretty crap. At least they taught us to tackle properly and though some awful tackles did go in no1 was hurt. I remember one ocasion where someone stepped on my head and I didn't even feel it smile.gif

I suppose it's like any sport - accidents will happen. I wouldn't blame rugby though. Afaik soccer has by far the biggest number of injuries.
