Ok heres the thing, before I updated drivers, I went through this "Clean drivers fist before installing new ones guide" so I did all that, removed all ATI progrmas/ drivers, did a search for ATI*.* and deleted any remaining .dlls. Cleaned the reg of ati stuff, and other things with Reg Cleaner.

Now when i rebooted and went to instal cat 4.12, it came up saying "Cannot install, please try setting up a standard VGA display device first" Tried to do this everyway possible yet with no result. I ended up putting in the CD that came with the Radeon 9800, and with out letting it Auto install, I installed the drivers from the CD via the windows XP installer. Thanksfully now im back running on the radeon 9800 at least, however, when I try to install the Cat drivers now, it stills asks me to do the Standard VGA thing still. WTF like.. :/

    Any Ideas?

    Thanks,
    -Coz.

Yea I always get a few problem installing new cat drivers, best thing to do is uninstall ati drivers from device manager --> Restart --> Let fully load and detect your vid card --> Install new drivers --> reboot back to windoze.

Let me know if this works.

    Actually:

    Do this:
Uninstall drivers (Device manager) --> Restart --> Let windoze load --> Restart again --> Let windoze load --> install new drivers --> Reboot and it should work.

    http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/misc/catalystutils.html

download and run cat uninstaller from there.
    reboot pc.
    install new drivers.

best way to do it tbh

Ok boot into safe mode and uninstall drivers, reboot back into safe mode, then reboot back to normal windoze and install drivers see if this works.
