I got €85 worth of gift vouchers for HMV and i want to use them wisely, so what do people recommend?

For the last few months ive been listening to nothing but Children of Bodom and Slayer, and this year ive finished my collection of Megadeth, Maiden, and Deicide. Being reasonable, it only being HMV and not having the widest of selection of metal, Im thinking Testament and Queensryche, but which albums?

Yes, Death. Seek out the following - Human - Individual Thought Patterns - Symbolic.

Also if you have change, Leviathan by Mastodon and Ashes Of The Wake by Lamb Of God are both excellent too.

How about the new Cradle of Filth album - Nymphetamine - it's pretty good.

Yeah, Nymphetamine rules. Get Darkthrone- Sardonic Wrath.

Death : Individual Thought Patterns is a good album and you should enjoy it based on the bands you've listed.

If you liked Deicide then you should check out Obituary. Presuming it's their early stuff you have then they've both got that Morrissound sound. Maybe try The End Complete and then Cause of Death.

As far as Testament goes, I've only heard Low and remember it being a decent CD. I'm not sure how it's aged though.

If you're going to get get a Queensryche album then try Operation Mindcrime. Again, I haven't heard it in years but remember it being a good album.

The Doc recommended Lamb of God earlier. I haven't heard that album but New American Gospel is very good. They have a few MP3s on their site as well.

Let us know what you get.

Actually, get some Black Sabbath. Get the first 8 Sabbath albums (or the Black Box - box set). Black Sabbath will make every day sunny.

I'd agree with you but this is HMV we're talking about though. I reckon 8 albums is a no go for €85, I was thinking 4 albums tops. That box set sounds interesting though, how much is it?

Just checked it out on Amazon. If you can get it in HMV for that price then that's the one to go for if you've heard Sabbath before and like them. If you haven't listened to them before then start!

Motorhead were just on telly. Get lots of their stuff. And Hawkwind. Then freak out.

Was thinking about Leviathan alright, but i never actually thought about Death that much. Ive already gotten my dose of Sabbath so I won't bother with the boxset. Thanks everyone

Dream Theater - Live At Budokan DVD is pretty damn impressive too, well worth investigating

Slayer boxset...however you would need to add a lil bit to it,... or Alice in Chains boxset-thats on sale at the mo for a f*ckin steal at like 29e.....hmmmm.or think wisely plan a list, then wait until new stuff comes out...however that would **** up the list...hmmm i see your dilema...

There was a brilliant sale on, and i got:
Arch Enemy - Wages Of Sin
Killswitch Engage - The End Of Heartache
    Testament - The Legacy
Chimaira - The Impossibility Of Reason
    Dragonforce - Sonic Firestorm
    Megadeth - Cryptic Writings

And one other, can't remember right now. Didn't have Leviathan :( Was gonna get some 'great bands with dodgy albums' cds such as reload, virtual XI, and undisputed attitude just to fill out my collection, but i needed good stuff.

    Cryptic Writings?

Poop! Otherwise sound buying. I've heard about Killswitch Engage without ever actually hearing them, what's that album like?

You got some good ones there. Don't knock Undisputed Attitude though, that's a killer album. Not typical Slayer but still cool.
