I ordered a game from hong kong. The total price including postage was 66.05 euro .I just came in and saw a delivery docket from ups saying they tried to deliver but noone was there, and theyll try tomorrrow. It says i owe 29.86 euro for this parcel. Now that seems ridiculous to me, i dont think they charge for making another delivery attempt, so it seems theyre trying to charge me 50% of what i paid originally in duty. Does anyone know what rates they charge.
    Thanks

It'll be customs plus all sorts of "handling/admin" fees. Complain and complain until you're blue in the face, they take money off that sometimes if you do. Keep stressing the point it's ridiculous you'll have to pay HALF the price of the item again just to receive it.

The customs duty is in or about 30% afaik but the 66.05 is comprised of VAT, the customs duty and and an administration fee to cover the paper used replying to those who feel the rules of international trade shouldn't apply to them.

You can try and get out of it, and in doing this will get good value for your administration fee charge, but you'll still have to pay.

that attitude is from the 90's .
Most gamers nowadays are between 20-35 years old.
