I'm going to fling mine out the window any day soon!!

Is everybody else’s remote control extremely sluggish and temperamental? Mine has been since day 1 (about 8 months now) and I'm loosing my patience with it.

I've got one of those cheapy silver Pace digiboxes by the way.

...oh, and the volume (up & down) and channel (up & down) buttons are on the opposite sides to the other 99.9% of remote controls out there. Nice design work guys.

Hate to tell you, this ain't the ntl remote - it's ntl's rubbish set top box software. And to prove this, try controlling channel changing from the set top box. Or, better still, remove the signal input from the STB rear, and then use the remote to see how fast "channel changing" is - pretty much instant! So, until they update their systems (ha, as if) it's gonna be slow! Sorry! :) It's not just a problem with you, but a problem with everyone.

Oh and the black boxes aren't any better - in fact, some would say, they're a lot worse!

I'd always assumed that the apparent delay when channel changing on digital STB's was something to do with having to wait for an MPEG key frame before you can actually display a picture.

If that's the case though it would be the same for all STB's, although I only have experience of the silver Pace box. The remote control, and inded the whole ergonomics of the user interface, though is cr@p, I'll agree.

I've got to disagree with ye there (from my own experience anyway). I have one of the dark grey DI4001 boxes & I have since replaced my old original ntl shark remote control with one of the new ntl shark remotes (The ones that can control the TV set aswell [see attachment]) and its reponse is just about instant and there appears to be little or no software delay with it. I'm very impressed with it.

Di4001? Didn't think they did those anymore! Well from experience, the Di4000, Di4010 and the silver boxes are pretty damn awful, no matter what remote control unit you used. I've never had a Di4001 set top box though, so I've never experienced it speedwise etc. You must be one of the lucky few!!!

I remember this remote was mentioned before. I've had my NTL remote ever since the service was made available, which I'm guessing is well over 2/3 years ago. I really love this new one, how did you manage it?

My father in law has one and its the worse I've ever used. Its rubbish. Put me off NTL digital.

The back on my old remote got a bit worn out and the battery cover became very loose & kept falling off so i needed a replacement controller.

If there's a problem with yours you can give ntl a call and ask for a replacement. No guarantees that it would definitely be one of the new type that they give you though.

 i've used one of those bigger ones before.they were given out with the start of ntl digital. they are much easier to use. i would be willing to pay for one if anyone could point me in the right direction

The engineer who installed my ntl:digital actually specifically mentioned that I should be extra cautious with the remote control due to them being extreemly flimsy! So far it has survived being chucked across the room twice in frustration. Next it's going out the window.
