Leviticus 20:13... If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

And the meek shall inherit the earth, and the self-righteous and judgemental are taking upon themselves the tasks of judgement of man and of holding themselves higher than their own kind that only God may do, and should be drawn and quartered, for they have done something detestable in feeling that they have the power to judge whom is worthy and whom is not.

'cos its all the rage - and it's easy to annoy people who go to Christian group sessions - i mean, meetings.

You can't just quote like that out of context. In order to have a proper discussion, the context and background to biblical quotes must be provided. I won't bother because this is just such a plain attempt at controversiality.

Just as a point of interest, Leviticus is the one book amongst Christians that causes the most upset and disagreement. It is a good debate source - *in* context. Yeah, we argued about it at our "group sessions". Sorry if my uncoolness in having faith offends anybody. biggrin.gif

Note: it is from the Old Testament - a journey of God's effect on the world through time. Then there came the New Testament, where we were told, hey - listen to this new covenant.

Damn right Pepperkin - a nice NT quote there. Paladin as usual got a dig in here. Well done in your objectivity man.

Give me back my towel. I'll sue.

I believe it was Excelsior that brought up 'jokingly' his self righteousness, and all I did was make a joke, not a 'dig'.

Excelsior for all his joy at controversiality, debates etc. is actually someone that I find quite interesting on these boards.
    ["usual" dig]
You (Neuro) are merely his rather annoying shadow, and you can ki$s my ass if a silly little t1t like you thinks they can subtly insult me tongue.gif[/usual dig]

Im pretty sure Excel would not have been insulted and seen it merely as a joke.
Someone that wasnt a tit might simply have tried to take the pi$s back instead of attmpting to make a character insult.

Basically, just lighten the fvck up.

Insulting people is your forté, good sir, as we can all read. ^^ It doesn't warrant a response, it's rather nonplussing.

Ever heard the expression "A joke is never a joke"?

To the original poster, this gem which popped up on a mailing list a long, long time ago:
    <font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">
    Dear Dr. Laura:

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's law. I have learned a great deal from you, and I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can.

When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind him that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the specific laws and how to best follow them.

When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev. 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. How should I deal with this?

I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as it suggests in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev. 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

Lev. 25:44 states that I may buy slaves from the nations that are around us. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans but not Canadians. Can you clarify?

I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination (Lev. 10:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?

Lev. 20:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear prescription glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

The Bible seems to me a single book but filled with a variety of themes and motifs. On one hand it is a tribal history of a desert tribe (Lev. dates from about 900BC), to poems, morality plays, books of wisdom and an attempt to create a universal concept of truth in the New Testament.

Shinji's cut and paste parts that don't mesh well with what is the norm in today's society . Theology is an evolving concept, with new interpretations of the text. Should then people of Celtic descent sacrifice people in a Wicker Man (well only if there is a remake of the film).

The only thing I can remember from reading Leviticus a long long while back is not to eat owls. That for me is a heavy burden I bear for my faith.

Post closed due to excessive levels of troll-baiting and muppetry.

By the way, I am just going to lock any more topics like this where someone posts something 'controversial' and says nothing else in an attempt to stir $hite.
