Its a celeron not a P4 and when you add it all up and add a P4 its probably about 4-500 euro. So over 3 months a drop of 200 isn't unusual. No AGP slot if thats important.

Its an ok Dell once you don't need to play games. If you need to play games and thus needs a PCI-e or AGP slot. Or if you already have a monitor then you'd be better getting a machine from the Dell outlet store.

Why not wait for ANOTHER Dell mis-price.

I got a 3 Ghz P4 with a 17" flat panel on Good Friday for €367. Delivered last week.

There seems to be a mis-price every few months at least. They sometimes, but not always, honour the order.

There are often good bargains on the Outlet site also.

The mis-price was only on the site for a few hours. I ordered mine at about 12.00 on Good Friday and it was pulled at 13.00. I think it was on the site since about 10.00.

The error arose from changing the processor - instead of increasing the price to change from a Celeron to a P4 , the price decreased by a couple of hundred Euro. The spec of the machine I got was 3Ghz P4, 512m Ram, CDRW, 17" LCD - total price €367. No speakers, modem or DVD but you could have added them if you wanted for the usual fee.

I don't really know why Dell honoured the error ( I'm still waiting for my €30 projector ), but I think once you get the PDF confirmation you have a contract.

I didn't post it here as I just got in near the end of the "offer". I spent most of the hour after I ordered the system trying to decide if I needed it. I didn't see the point in posting it here when the error was fixed - no sense in annoying people that they missed a good deal (which I suppose I'm doing now!!! - sorry guys)

Anyhoo, my point is to watch both the main Dell site and the Outlet. There are bargains there to be had. If I see an active offer again I'll post it here.

It has been proved many times in the past that no online retailer has to honor a price that was a mistake. You paid about a 3rd the normal retail price for that kit.
