No St. Patrick's day festival/parade???

So... apparently due to the seriousness of the Foot and Mouth disease crisis, it's quite likely that the St. Patrick's day parade and festival will be completely cancelled. The word on this mornings radio news in Dublin is that it's officially postponed for now and unless there's a dramatic positive change, it will not go ahead.

This is, naturally, disappointing. Last year I wasn't around to witness the (apparently spectacular) St. Patrick's Festival (- I didn't mind too much as I was having a great holiday instead) but I was kinda looking forward to it this year. I don't recall the last time though that a St. Patrick's day parade in Dublin had to be cancelled... does anyone? Granted, if they do cancel it this year, it'd be for a very good reason and we can't really complain.

The authorities are requesting that people not congregate in large groups (- seems kinda un-natural in Ireland, I know!). All tours of state buildings have stopped, the zoo has been closed, and now this about Paddy's day. Here's hoping this Foot and Mouth thing is isolated and stamped out sooner rather than later.

    That's my 2 cents worth of a little rant anyway ... wink.gif

Yeah I know its terrible to hear paddy's day off frown.gif
I didn't know the zoo was closed now
but you are right about getting rid of it now rather than later,
if it gets partly around, I don't think there will be any stopping it frown.gif
