Eh....you have to rip the tracks onto the PC as mp3 files.
The majority of media players should provide this function, just use WMP if you want to be quick.

Just make sure you dont make encrypted WMA's of the tracks, and make sure they are at least 128kbps for decent quality sound. Other than that, read the feckin manual, and use the enclosed software.

If none of that works, report back to us.

read the manual which was no help.
the software provided can't locate all the songs as they are wmp instead of mp3.
is there any way of converting wmp to mp3

I assume the player came with software on a cd. I assume you installed said software.

I also assume that this software has the capability to transfer music onto your player... would be a bit stupid to supply it otherwise :p Therefore, you should read up on the software that was supplied. They usually come with a help file, or a transfer wizard to make things easy for new users.

Try that and report back, also let us know what software was supplied.

    www.dBpowerAMP.com

I take it you mean WMA not WMP?

    yeah, WMA.

em, the software can't locate the wmp files on cd's or in my computer to change them to mp3. Slight problem that with the software that came with it.

How long will Windows Media Player take to download on a 56kps modem and from where?

Look, if you want an easy ripping tool, use the supplied software! I have yet to see an MP3 player that does not come bundled with ripping/transferring software.

However, if you can't use that, or it wasn't supplied with any, download DBPoweramp. Its a MUCH smaller download than Windows Media Player and will cause less problems. Afaik, WMP only encodes to WMA, which ain't a good thing.

Just download it here (1.8mb) and rip away. When its ripped, use the supplied transferral software to transfer the MP3's to your player. Its dead easy to use.

You should always use some kind of open standard like MP3s or Ogg Vorbis (just gotta wait till players support it</open-source-zealot>). I know someone who ripped a whole bunch of CDs to WMAs and stored them on her PC. She then got an iPod. Had to re-rip everything. :(

    And please, RTFM.

WMP10 does now support ripping to mp3 once you buy the codec for $15

Seems to me that Omnicorp's problem (or rather his player's s/w problem) is that the .wmas he has on his comp are license protected. Converting them to mp3 will take longer than it will to simply just re-rip from CD.

    Codec for 15 euro????

I downloaded wmp10 and can rip in mp3 (192kb/sec) without paying anything.

DBpoweramp is really good, but cant do 'protected' files

the whole idea behind protected (i.e. DRM'ed) wma files is that you CANNOT convert them, and you cannot play them on another computer, and you can't play them on an MP3 player (even if it supports WMA) unless it is compatible with windows DRM software.

In other words, its crap. Re-ripping is the way forward, and DBPoweramp also rips, as well as transcodes, as well as transferrs files to the portable (but that requires an additional download). Its dead handy.

Start up "DMC Audio CD Input", and click "Rip". Alternatively, select "Compression Options" and change bitrate, codec etc. Its all good.

Ah sorry, I meant for added various bitrates other than the standard 192kb (which was available on WMP9, no? )

[edit] 128, 256 and 320 kbps. If you try setting the slider to those in Tools>Options>RipMusic you'll get a pop up or url inviting you to pay for the codec. Or you could just copy LAME from some other program :D
