Humanities: Those branches of knowledge, such as philosophy, literature, and art, that are concerned with human thought and culture; the liberal arts.

What he's trying to say is, this is the thinkers "After Hours" board. Similar sort of posting but you expect to get a level headed thought reply, or at least a Stalinized reply courtesty of Castor Troy smile.gif

This is the place where everyone comes to moan about how fùcked up the world is, and ramble on about issues as if they've spent the last 200 years as a great philosopher living bare-foot on a snowy mountain peak with nothing to do but construct flawless, indisputable opinions on every matter under the sun, and learned to determine the exact outcome of any given situation, and yes this sentence is getting very long - so there's no need to point that out you nit-picking bàstards.
    MWAHAAA!

I'm saddened but not particularly shocked that someone who is a university student can not know the meaning of the term "humanities". It says a lot I guess.

Dictionary.com is terribly underused by the people that most need it.

One generally expects that if you got there at all, you're meant to have a clue about the world in general. So much for education systems producing well-rounded individuals and broadening the mind...

I though the purpose of uni was to learn how to stretch the grant check whilst doing the minimum amount of work to pass an exam?

Sadly, yes, that's what it has become. *shrug* Call me old fashioned, but I believe in educating people, not training them. There's a very important difference.

Education or Not that is the Question....

    You choose -

University of Life or University of Learning

Do we attend one or the other or do we attend both..

If we attend both then how do we Gauge each other's skill levels and abilities..
