Most of us has encountered this problem and here's how to sort it.
(it's worked so far for me)

do a RAM backup. Unplug your sky + box from the mains, Hold down left and
right buttons on your box. Plug back in the box (still holding buttons). After
10 seconds the jog wheel will light up, release the buttons and quickly press
select twice, the jog wheel will roll backwards for a couple of seconds and
will power off. leave for 2 minutes and power up. That's it.

Make sure you save your existing recordings before you do this by pressing
    the "Keep" button.

Thanx to steve at Sky (tech) for this.

    Happy Holidays. :D

About 48% of my harddrive is being used but I have only 16% of recordings. Strange.

You need to do the housekeeping job on your digi box. That Normally does the job for me.

    What's that?

If you press 4, 0, 1, and select that will bring you into the installer menue then press 8 housekeeping that will clean up the digi box for you but be aware you will lose every thing you have recorded. Watch every thing you recorded first. You will have to set up your regular programs again to.

Can someone explain exactly what a RAM Backup is? Just like to understand exactly what it does and why it improves lost recordings. Sorry if it's a stupid question :D

Always try the "Sky+ Planner Rebuild" (Option 7) in the installer menu before taking the drastic step of housekeeping. Option 7 usually recovers lost space and does NOT erase recorded programs.

Option 7 is equivalent to defragmenting a hard disk while option 8 is equivalent to formatting it.

Option 7 Planner Rebuild does not always do the job its Suppose to do. Thats why i said Option 8 Full System Reset or housekeeping. I did give a warning twice to watch every thing first.
