    HI

If someone plans on raising but droppes a chip in the pot accidently which is less than the min raise do they have to check/leave the chip in the pot without a raise/min raise/or still go ahead with their raise, if you stick ridgedly to the rules?

If the person said "raise" while they were doing it then the act is a raise. It must be brought up to the minimum.

If the person didn't say anything and they throw one chip in which is larger than a call it can only be assumed to be a call, irrespective of the denominations of the chips in their stack. In other words if it's 300 to call and they throw in a 500 chip without saying raise, that's a call (whether they had three 100 chips in their stack or not).

Where I'm not sure... is where someone, when the bet to them is 300, throws in five 100 chips without saying anything. I have heard that by throwing in more chips than are needed to cover the bet when they are obviously not looking for change indicates the intention of raising and so is a raise. Has anyone got the DEFINITE answer on that one?

Anyway, if the intention of raising is made obvious, the minimum raise must be met, if the intention of raising is not made obvious it is taken as a call only.

In other words, it's always best to state what you're doing, i.e. say raise when you're raising, call when you're calling and nothing can go wrong.

Yes. It is a call. the intention to bet is made obvious by putting chips into the pot. the intention to raise is made obvious by announcing raise or putting enough into the pot in one single motion to constitute a raise.

if there is no bet before somebody, and they put in 200 wen the blinds are 150-300, they must bring the bet up to 300. if someone has already made 300 and they throw in 500 without saying "raise", it is a call.

Ok, so if the B is 500 say, and theres been no previous raise and someone drops in 100, they have to bring it to 500? They can't just leave in the 100 and fold?

they must bring it up to 500.

So, say if I push all my chips in without saying raise or anything, its a call?

"the intention to raise is made obvious by announcing raise or putting enough into the pot in one single motion to constitute a raise."

    And another question about raising:

If the BB is 500 and utg raises it to 1000 in total, the next player can raise to 1500, he dosn't have to double the total, ie. raise to 2000?
