Where can I get the best price for a 20gb Ipod 4th Generation with Remote . If looked about on ebay , been lucky in the last few months with ebay and haven't been hit with any customs etc but I don't want to push by look .

Anyone got any sellers or online shops who mark the products as gifts or gurantee no vat/duty.

    Cheers guys for the helps,

P.S Do I need an FM transmitter to listen to the radio with the Ipod or is the tranmitter only for listening to Ipod Music through an fm radio.

Sounds like you need an iRiver IHP-120! built in radio and much better and cheaper than ipod anyway!
    Do you work for iRiver?

Seriously, why isn't Cormie getting banned for this? Have you no ****ing life? Virtually any iPod thread on here has you banging on about iRivers!

Think I'll counter-balance the cormie effect: Irivers are shit :p

and you might want to try ebay for ipods. some good prices there if you poke around.

[edit] whoops, just read the post properly and saw you tried ebay :)

[edit2] and here are a list of accessories, including the FM transmitter (itrip)http://www.apple.com/ipod/u2/accessories.html.

the FM transmitter isn't for listening to radio. It's for broadcasting your ipod music on a specific frequency so you can listen to music off your ipod on your stereo/car radio/etc etc

I don't think he has ever said iPods are crap. They work fine. I hope the original poster did a search for irivers, don't see what is wrong with pointing them out especially in this case where it is obvious that the guy may want one (if he knew about them). He wants an 20GB mp3 player with a radio and a remote control. The H120 has a radio and remote and is 300 in town. 20GB ipod is 339 + a futher 39 for the remote (which has no display and only lets you lets you fast forward, rewind, play/pause, and control the volume)

BTW I'd sooner get a tape device for listening on a stereo/car rather than an itrip

I think the iTrip is for cars with CD players... and also means you dont have a dangly wire round the gear stick.

As would I. Ive heard that itrips can be quite fiddly.

If you're a student you get a pretty good discount on apple.ie... try here: http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/IrlInd

Cheers lads for the advice , yeah I have had a look at the IRIVER meets the spec but probably still buy the Ipod in the end as if you go with the HP Version Ipod you get a excellent warranty rather than the Koreans Irivers Limited Warranty.

Yes I was just pointing out the iRiver as it seems to have what he wants. I do not work for iRiver, simply trying to lead this guy in the direction he wants to be lead in. I don't understand why you have a problem with people helping other people?

iRiver European Warranty is 2 years. I kinda broke my original iRiver, through fault of my own and I rang up Harvey Norman and had a brand new one in about 2 weeks no questions asked. This was about 6 months after original purchase. Just needed receipt.

In answer to your actual question, ebay will probably be the cheapest option. I didn't want to wait too long either so ordered from amazon.co.uk. Took about 3 days to deliver. I only saved about €50 on buying in Ireland, but it was very convenient. And the Ipods warranty is worldwide so it doesn't matter too much where you buy it from.

Contrary to the opinion of the guy that keeps banging on about Irivers, I think you should buy the one that best suits your need. I personally decided that I didn't need all the extras of the Iriver and so opted for the Ipod. It's much easier to use when you just want something to play your music on.

Finally, if you get a European Ipod you'll find the volume on it is quite puny. This is because they limit it on purpose for models sold in Europe (the French have laws regarding volume).

There is a small little program called Imod which will get rid of this limit. You can get it here:

    http://www.pochoirs.de/leechs/iMod.zip

It works very well and solved the only real problem I had with the thing.

    Good Luck
