I had to format my comp the other day and now the edges of the screen are just off the edge of the monitor, when i try resize using the monitor it stays the same but just gets smaller (does that make sense?) It was like this before but I can't remember how I fixed it. Can anyone offer some suggestions?

is it a window that's off the edge???? try setting your resolution higher. alternatively try "maximising" the window and see if that helps.

    Try updating your graphics drivers.

its set to 1024x768 at the moment and its off the edge of the screen, as i said I fixed it before, just can't remember how.Its on my all the screens, desktop, firefox, etc......... I've no idea how you think maximising a window will fix it?

cos sometimes if a window is "minimised" it can be dragged and stretched to be off the screen. Maximising it will make it the full desktop resolution and locate the top left corner into the top left corner. Thats all

is your computer plugged in? :D

but seriously - I'm assuming you are running some breed of windows. A little more info on your PC would help.

It is possible if you are running an older version of windows (98 for example) you might need monitor-specific drivers. Trying reducing your screen resolution. control panel ---> display ----> settings etc.

Try changing the refresh rate to what it would have been before you formatted if you can remember, otherwise just try a few different referesh rates, it fixed the same problem for me. ;)

There should be buttons on your monitor for adjusting the geometry . That will solve your problem.

No point trying to delete it now !!!

Can you draw him/her a diagram for that ??? :D

Seriously though it sounds like the screen resolution - e.g. 1024x768 - is less than the desktop resolution you have chosen. Some video cards allow this effect - Matrox for example - a bit more info on your setup would help, in particular the video card make and model.
