Oi was thinkin' dere tis mornin about the awful cost of motor insurance for younger drivers. I'm a named driver on my old man's insurance so I only pay about 150% of the value of the car a year in inurance, which is quite bad but when you compare it to the 10,000+ I would have paid if I had my own insurance is much easier to swallow.

I'm kinda worried that the insurance is coming up again and I'll be wanting me own insurance. I'm graduating this year but 40+ a week just for motor insurance is still going to put a big dent in my finances.

It ocurred to me that the main factor in the cost of motor insurance is personal injury claims..........so why don't we scrap them? Make all injury claims due to road accidents (drivers / passangers / pedestrians) a part of health insurance instead. This would drive up the price of health insurance but I'd bet the combined cost of health insurance and motor insurance under this scheme would be less than before.

I was going to say more but I have to go to class now frown.gif

I can't remember what I was going to say now frown.gif

Does anybody know a url or email addy for that crowd protesting about motor insurance costs at the mo'? This idea would need research - it could be totally unfeasable - and I wouldn't be arsed even if I had the time.

Is there elections coming up next year? I'd nearly be willing to get off me **** to vote for someone who was going to lower motor insurance costs wink.gif It's one of the factors that could take me and my soon-to-be-in-high-tax-bracket butt out of the country for good.

Anyways, there's a gorgeous girl beside me right now and I badly have to fart so I'm off

The funniest part is when they double charge you, you pay insurance based on every factor down to the colour of your hair.
The insurance companies charge you for the size of your engine while the government charges you for the size also.
Hey blitz the insurance is no better anywhere in the world, here in the us you are charged based on how many cars are on your premisis (i.e if you have 3 cars you are charged to be insured on all 3, handy but expensive). I'm paying over 2 and a half grand for one year and they are now trying to take another $800 off me which kinda sux, and its not in my own name.

    State is missouri.

winning hand I would love to know what state you live in? I've done some work for insurance companys in the US (and Ireland) and I must say thats a bit high of price. Its true thought in the states you get loaded for everything thge best one I've hear off is a laoding for owing a mobile phone smile.gif like what the f*&^

But I dont think making all injury claims part of healt insurance is the way to go. That would up the price of VHI and Bubpa which would put loads more people on the public health system which is not advisable. The real problem is as follows the underwriters are making a packet and they dont want to take a cut. I know a place where it is cheap of a insurance on a guy if he is married and includes the spouse on the policy as an ocassional driver compared to insuring him self only Why??? I honestly do wonder if it is leagal not to insure someone due to their age and that age differes according to sex surely that does dont treat all people equal.

Well we all know that insurance companies profit margins are too high. If they're going to legislate that we have to buy motor insurance they should legislate that it's provided at a fair price.
