    Hi,

I have a sky €62.50 subscription for over 12 months. I am interested in cancelling it in order to qualify for the €149 installation of sky plus.

After cancelling when I go back to sky for Sky+ will they not just take my name and realise I had a subscription with them already??

Will I need to give a different name or anything?

    Many thanx,

    Branners..

Could they not cross check the phone number, source of payment or address and nail you that way

I am moving house and getting a new phone number. What do you think are my chances of going this way as the only thing that would stay the same is my name?

You will have no problem in signing up again in your own name, only if the landline number is different......or a mistake made in the area code!!!! It's the only way they track an existing customer. :D

When I moved to Meath from kerry, I brought my sky dish and Pace digibox with me and got a local expert to put it up on the new house. (I was on the 28.50 package at the time and had been with sky for over 2 years.)

Two weeks later, my digibox died, (This happens to a lot of pace digiboxes that are constantly left turned on I am told!), so I rang sky and asked them how much is was to replace it.... they told me some stupid figure of about 200euro for a replacement if my memory serves me right! so I told her I wanted to cancel my subscription there and then. I waited until my months notice was up and until I had recieved my contract end confirmation letter and rang sky back and took them up on their free digibox and 15 euro connection fee!

But here is the good bit.... I gave them all my details as were on my old contract... My name, address, phone no., and credit card number were all the same as I had gave to them on the old contract, but the only inclusion was my middle name.... Daniel.

They never questioned my new contract and I have had no problem since!

And 2 weeks later, the local sky installer came out with my new dish and sexy looking panasonic digibox, and didnt even question why I already had a dish up on the wall. Perfect! :D

I now use the old sky dish with a second hand panasonic digibox I bought in the buy and sell in the guest room and I use it for the free sky channels.

You should have no problem Branners, you can just use your old details and include your middle name, or like gibo_ie says, just use you wife/girlfriends name! ;)

That may have been the way one time, but in the past two months or there abouts Sky are going to the trouble in checking every telephone number given to them against a new account.
