Individualism. as in no matter how dull or boring your fashion sense is.. it's your own.. and rarely will you see someone wearing exactly the same outfit as you anywhere!! .. well maybe in the mirror... :D so I guess no matter what is in.. or out.. there is always a personal slant to it.. and THAT is fashion!!! (imo of course!)

It's something that exists whereever they are bitches (whether those bitches are male or female). Kind of a way of putting people down and making themselves feel superior. The rest of us just wear what's comfortable :)

fashion, as distinct from style, is just a matter of whatever inspiration is running through the minds of the major fashion houses at a certain time. and yes, anna wintour does hold a major influecne over what becomes 'trend' and what doesn't.

It's a somewhat fluid, changing set of ideas as to what looks good in terms of clothes, makeup etc. These are decided by some or all of the following: designers, advertisers and magazines, celebrities, clothes stores, the general public, subgroups within the general public.

Fashion is the style of clothes or other things that most people like at a pasrticular time-oxford dictionary

But there are loads of different types of fashion that are out and when Garth v says that "I only wear clothes that I feel comfortable in, not ones that are in" fair enough if you wear your clothes because thats what you feel comfortable in. But there will be people out there that will be wearing simular clothes to you because if you bought them in a shop(obviously) at one time or another it was the fashion. Clothes that are sold in shops at the time of purchase means that they are in fashion. Clothes dont go on sale if no one will buy them. So what ever clothes you see on sale in shops are the clothes that are in fashion, no matter how versitile the fashions may be. So garth v the clothes you buy, and claim that they are not the ones that are "in ".in theory they are "in" because they wouldn't be in the shops if they weren't. can you see where I am comming from? :o

Who cares GaRth_V? You and I don't. I'm the same as yourself, comfy clothes all the way. Let the rest of em worry bout whether they are in fact in or out of "fashion".

OR unless you shop online buying Ambercrombie, I maen, then you'd just look the same as every other rich bitch going. Rather than people who shop in pennies and obviously can't afford anything else.

theres more to life than just making a big deal out of being the only one with a certain clothes. no matter how much of an indivigual you think you are, there is always gonna be someone out there just like you, more than likely in similar clothes. nobody is an indivigual. nobody. dont make a big deal out of it. theres billions of people in the world, just be glad that your happy and have enough money to eat and have somewhere to sleep at night.
"good fashion" is what lots of people wear and looks good/ expensive.
"bad fashion" is what lots of people wear and lok bad/cheap or what one person wears and looks different in.

fashion designers decide primarily whats in fashion. the catwalk dictates what we're supposed to wear. thats why theres a million photographers & press at catwalk shows.. For example,... the fad about ponchos, although its dyin out now

    I concur.

The reason I said that was because I read [url=http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=208158

Except that all of them have reasonable reasons behind them....

I imagine that it might be decided by each year by the fashion industry with a different themes so that people will buy new clothes every season. They are influenced by movies, media in general. Though the magazines do not have to pick up the trends if they do not want to. I never care but it is a pain when you are looking for something and it is not in fashion that season...so I just wait until they are back in fashion and wear them to death until they come around again. I don't think that black will ever go out of fashion and there will always be mini-skirts etc.

Cathy, Black wasn't exactly fashionable in the Ninties.. so.. it could go out again!??

Don't think that it ever left fashion...my dad was a fashion designer so that is why I know so much about it...
