Hi. I'm looking for some advice on the best digital camcorder to get. It will be my first digital one as I had a conventional Vhs one years ago but wanted to get one that I could transfer my finished video recording directly onto my pc. Rough prices of decent ones and the best place to purchase said (in Ireland preferably). All help/suggestions appreciated. :D

Try www.camcorderinfo.com or dvspot.com for reviews. If you want to record onto the PC properly, you'll need to get a firewire card if you dont have one. Depending on the price bracket is hugely dependent on what to get. One word of caution - the DVD based cams really arent as reliable as the miniDV - one knock and you could lose your video! Give these another few years and they should improve.
If your shopping in Ireland, do your research on the web, and then price around. The camera I got was €250 cheaper in Jessops compared to Conns, and the manager still gave me another €90 off the price and half price tapes!! Definitely recommend jessops
