Thought To Hate

As a child, he was thought to be innocent,
    & innocent he was.
As he grew, he learned to read & write.
    That wasn't all he learned.

He learned to hate, to feel no compassion,
& learned that all men were not created equal.
He did not have to go to school to learn this.
His classroom was by the fireplace, & at the dinner-table.
No more was he in his green room, only the black one.
