I've been meaning to ask this for weeks .....

What would be the best hair straightener on the market at the moment?
I know the GHD is meant to be good but is there something better?

I also read in one of the other threads about this Aussie Miracle Conditioner of some form or other ... how does that work?

I want to get the straightener as a Christmas Pressie (It has been requested!) so I want to make sure I get one that kicks ass!

My friend has the BaByliss one. Its not great...
It was also rated the poorest straightener in 'best' magazine and on a TV show.

That one that goes from wet 2 straight sounds cool. A little pricey at 120Euro I think

I'd suggest buying a GHD or KODO (kodo being about €60 cheaper but they both heat to 210 degrees & almost identical).. Both are the best on the market at the mo in my opinion.

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle condtioner is fab. Just apply as normal conditioner after shampooing & leave it in for 3 minutes and rinse out. Leaves the hair smooth & silky soft. You can buy a bottle of it in Boots for less than a tenner. They also have a leave in conditioner which i use too, & i'd recommend it if you're using a GHD as ceramic straightener's aren't too great for the hair!

The wet to straight sounds a bit dodgy to me. I can't see how you could use it without damaging your hair. It must get ridiculously hot.
I'm leaning toward the GHD at the moment, it seems to be everybodies favourite from those I've talked to.

I think that the Remington ceramics are every bit as good as the Kodo or GHD and come at far less, somewhere roughly about 35-45 yoyo. I have really thick wavy hair, and they straighten it very well. The straightening then lasts about 2 days.

I have to agree and say that I wouldn't like the idea of the wet to straight ones. Your hair is very brittle when wet. This is why you're always supposed to comb your hair when wet, never brush it.

I'd always recommend conditioning your hair well when using straighteners, but never use a leave in product. Those guys get very hot, and any thing in your hair, be it dirt or product, will get burnt onto the shafts of your hair.

whatever one you get, be sure you put in iron oil/heat spray before cos itll wreck your hair otherwise, honestly theyll ALL do it!

Well, I went with the GHD, the gift set in Peter Marks. Pricey stuff! So I've got the irons, oil and hair serum and also an umbrella!!?!
That's christmas pretty much done for this year so.

I have a KODO, it works fine. I haven't used it in a month or two, opting for a few light waves instead. Isn't poker-straight hair looking boring these days? Any time I see hen parties around town, they all seem to be wearing the same straight hairstyle... which can be quite unflattering... and I realize that I don't really want to look like *that*.

Normally my hair looks as if I've been dragged backwards through a bush, and that's on a good day. So when I straighten it, it's a real novelty for me. I also get quite thick chunky layers cut into it, so when it is straightened, it doesn't look the same as everyone else

The FHI ceramic ones, like by Ion. They are way expensive, but worth it.

Just wanted to let ye know, I had a kodo for a year, didnt use it very regularly at all, today went straightening my hair and noticed lots of steam, my hair felt completely burnt when i touched it. pulled the straightener away in time to notice the black plastic was melting around the plates. The plates fell off after another few seconds. i got an awful fright and because i bought it on the internet i cant find an address of the supplier to complain. beware! melted plastic on head is much worse than frizzy hair.

I also had a kodo one and one day it just stopped working..no reason for it at all..just stopped heating up...and i was always really careful with it too (as i broke my first GHD..completely my fault,i stepped on it) When i brought the kodo one back to the place i bought it,the girl told me that i wasnt the first to have problems with them either..my sister had problems with hers as well..so im back to the GHD now and they are the best IMHO...(and i dont leave it on the floor this time around)

best is GHD but make sure you get the heat protector spray with it or you will wreck your hair!! Aussie 3 minutes miracle is okay if you want to try it you can buy sachets in boots cheaper than the bottle so if you dont like it you wont b stuck with a bottle of it.

Depends on your hair! Some it works on and some it doesn't.
(Make sure you use the GHD oil 1st!)
Straighten a section of hair, and when straightener is at the bottom on hair, before you let the hair out, hold the top of GHD (got litle ridges, hold there and don't burn yourself!) then just tightly work the GHD around and around until you have the amount of hair you want around the top and bottom of GHD, gently pull and hold for about 20 seconds before releasing. Just twirl that strand of hair around your finger and put some styling serum/spray in it.

Hope that helps, I'm pretty bad at explaining.

i got my ghd when it first came out and it lasted me four years only had to buy a new one because another person broke it on me. ghd is definitly the best all round.

i treated myself to a GHD with my wages when i started my job. its still going strong eh... 7 years later! cant quite say the same for my hair though. its a lot thinner now so i dont straighten it as much anymore. probably would have happened anyway so i probably cant blame the GHD.
