"02" Error on UK FTV Card

    Hi there.

Firstly, thanks to all who post info here - it's been of great use in the past.

I have the following problem at the moment and hope that someone can help out.

I have a UK FTV card - the second generation or type 2 card, which I got using a UK address about a year ago when they where still free. The card worked perfectly until this weekend when I tried to use it again for the first time in a couple of weeks. Now it gives an "02" error - there is a problem with your card, contact your service provider, or words to that effect.

The basic problem is that when I put the UK FTV card into the box, instead of the "initizialising new card" message that used to come up briefly before the UK channels came in, my Irish subscription channels still show up on the EPG with the 02 error message. By messing around with power-cycling I did at one point get BBC1 and BBC2 on Channel 101 and 102 respectively, but ITV and Channels 4 and 5 were not on the EPG.

At first I thought this meant that because I hadn't used the FTV card in a couple of weeks, I needed to leave it in for a few hours to reactivate, but after leaving it in for 24 hours, when I went back to check on it, the BBC1 on 101 was gone, the Irish EPG was back, and the 02 error message was back. Since then I've been unable to get the UK EPG (even without ITV and 4 and 5 no matter how often I power cycle, or how long I leave the UK card in the slot).

One possibility that occured to me is that one of my two kids, both toddlers, could have gotten their hands on the FTV card at some point and given it a good chew - it looks to be in okay nick, however, although it does say on the back that it should never get wet. That's probably not relevant to the problem I'm having, but I can't think of anything else that might have happened.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and have any advice on what I need to do. If nothing's forthcoming here, I'll contact Sky and ask for a replacement card, but the two problems with that is that I'm sure they'll charge the service fee they have in place now and - more of a problem - I no longer have access to a UK address as I did when I got the card in the first place.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
