My mates pc was riddled with viriuses and spyware. I formatted and reinstalled XP. Prior to this I scanned and cleaned his HD with macfee by connecting it as a slave to my PC. I did save his settings using the XP wizard.
While installing I made lots of restore points. I then transfered his settings.

I only had checked gmail, hotmail, google and boards and I had 2 www.errorfixer.com pop-ups. Could spyware have been saved by XP and transferred with settings? If I go back to my restore point and put in his internet settings manually should it fix it?

why don't you just not run cw shredder - install spybot adaware and do a scan with then first would have saved you alot of time

An unportected XP machine lasts about 10 minutes on the internet.

I generally scrap system restore as well, as some trojans intentionally infect that area so that they can reinfect if they are removed.

Syth is correct too, you don't actually have to be doing anything to get infected.

Also stay the hell of that website you posted, if your getting spam from them odds on they will reinfect you if you go there.

If I go back to my restore point before I transfered settings should they be gone?

Will the XP service pack do anything?
    It didn't even last 10minutes!
