Could you advise me on the following

My dad has a satelite system he bought from LIDL about three years back, evertime i call he has me out the back garden moving the dish around until we get channels, we do use a sat finder (from LIDL) before you ask.

The only channels that come through are German channels from the astra satelite system.

I know there other satelites about in these locations but we can receive none, are we doing something wrong.

I maintain to my father, but he won't listen, that he has an analogue receiver and that the other satelites are digital. Would i be correct.

Please put me out of my misery especially in this weather standing out the back garden.

If it was bought 3 years ago, then most likely it is an analogue receiver. Some weird brand ("Morgans Satellite System - DiSEqC SR 1902").

    Other indications that it's analogue:

When he tunes into the channels, are they snowy at first, like poor reception of RTE,and then get clearer? Does he see sparklies (white or black horiztonal dots) on some channels?

If yes, then the receiver is analogue.

If he is able to receive Eurosport from Astra 19E, then it's definitely analogue.

Yes there are sparkes across some channels.

So what he will receive is very limited so?
