Just picked up one of these this morning for a Christmas gift.

The spec on them seems great for the money.

    512 MB memory
    Supports MP3, WMA & WAV
    USB 1.1 /2.0
    AND.....................
it features inline encoding, so you can connect ANY music source to it such as a portable cd player etc and it will record from it and encode into MP3 format, so you don't even have to have a PC to use it.

Oh by the way, it also has an FM radio inside WITH headphones and batteries and finally....
There is a 3 year warranty on the unit.

All this for only 99 EURO!
    Go grab yourself one now
    :D:D:D

(edit) Also has 6 equalizer modes and voice recording(/edit)

I went to the Moore St. branch at 12:00 and they were sold out, they had 18 left in Blanchardstown at that time, the Mobile phones were all gone as well

I was going to get one of those but the picture in the paper made it look like the FM radio was seperate to the player i.e a totally different piece of equipment, so i didnt bother.

The big thing I saw about the Lidl one is that it can encode itself and I suppose seeing as I got it for an older child, I saw that as a big advantage if they didn't have to use a pc to put songs on it

Picked one up but haven't opened the pack yet - debatating if its worth keeping. Asked this q on previous thread but does anyone know if you set compression rate ( i.e. 64 or 128 or 192 kbps or 320 kbps ) at different qualitities using "line-in" function ?
Also what's the sound quality like??
The "free radio" with the bundle looks quite cheap...

I got one of these. The radio is separate and looks like a bit of cack to be honest. The MP3 player is grand though - far smaller than it look on the Lidl literature, very easy to operate and very fast transfer speeds. You'll need to get a separate pair of decent earphones cos the ones with it are crap. The bass on the mid range is a little lacking, but apart from that the equalizer's quite effective.

Can't afford an Ipod so this'll do me in the meantime.

    Update

The MP3 player went down great. He's thrilled with it.
Had a quick look myself. Seems quite good and sound quality is about 8/10 which is very good considering the price

    Regarding the sample rate,
it seems that you can sample using the line-in at different qualities, but dont know what rates they are, just good, normal fair etc
