This board seems to be losing steam again so I thought I'd post this up. :)

During the summer when HL2 was on the verge of coming out, I decided I would start modelling again around when it was released. I found a video tutorial and the method he used was so good. Maximises the polys used and its really quick. Anyway I was hungry again for modelling so I started to model a deagle. First attempt was pretty terrible because I was sticking to the old ways without realising it. Started again and this is what I've done so far. I don't have enough reference pics so its kinda slow trying to figure out bits I can't see but it should be done soon.

Hope you like it anyway :)

Looking sweet, are you going to texture it or is this just for fun?

    Thanks lads.

Yeah I think I will skin it when I'm happy with it.

Anyway the tutorials can be found here.. Its the Barreta 9000 set of videos. Theres like 4 or 5 of them but I only have 2 and its enough to see how he does it.

Well my old way was to box model (i.e. start with a box and just extrude and edit from there) but its a lot harder and wastes way too many polygons.

very nice, probably could afford to up the poly count around the barrel area above the trigger, but nitpicking aside great model, what did you use? softimage xsi, 3dsmax.........

Thanks. The bit above the trigger has been redone now, I've made it smoother and more accurate to what a real life deagle should be.

I use 3D Max 6. Haven't really tried to use XSI but it seems crap.

ok, you seem to have taken my comments to heart. I didn't mean that it was bad, I was just using sarcasm

Looks great, now just make a sixshooter-like skin to go with it :)

    I know, I was joking.

It's bollocks to be quite honest. A disgrace to Ireland, let alone yourself :(
