the second defanition is what is mostly used here in Limerick, the term Lalla has been also used although i would asume that it is a coruption of the word langer.

I am soOOOO happy for Cork :):)
Jeremy Butterfield, Editor in Chief of Collins English Dictionaries was astounded by the popularity of the word: "I have never seen such passion about a single word before.

Now that Cork is on the map for "passion" and with City of Culture status from next week we should all make a point of visiting it some time next year .

    Jolly well done y' all

Beer and loathing agrees with you. They also have a great glossary of Irish slang.

yikes .. look at the definition of Cork.. starts off nice and simple.. then turns into a fist-fight!!
    Cork
Ireland's second-largest city, built on the river Lee in the south of the country. There is no love lost between Cork and Dublin. The Corkonians believe that the Dubs are no-good West Brits who have no business running a Holy Catholic, Gaelic nation and are quite assured that they could do a far better job. The Dubs, for their part, believe that Corkonians are only upstart mulchie bastards, insane with jealousy and years of inbreeding.

    2. (Slang) penis

Possibly from Schlong (snake - Yiddish) Schlonger (cock -penis etc Ameridish)

Could a new forum be justified here? Just a thought is all!
