Violent Crime & Punishment (or lack thereof)

    My views:
Murder = Life imprisonment. No Parole.
Manslaughter 1st deg. = Life imprisonment Parole hearing after 15
Multiple violent assault = 5 years MINIMUM
Assault with a deadly weapon = 10 years

Basically I think that violent crime should result in a jail sentence always.
Im sick of this shíte of suspended sentences, ppl getting early realease after very violent crimes, ppl getting "warnings" after giving a guy a beating.

If you are going to hit someone for no reason, except to start a fight or rob them, then you should be thrown in jail.
I walk through my local town, and I see people that are in fights every weekend, guys my age (18 abouts) and even younger. The police have "warned" them on many occasions.
They STILL kick the shít out of unsuspecting victims.
    The STILL walk the streets.

It just is not fúcking right.
    Lock em up ffs.
Im so sick of these asshóles.
(apologies for use of censor avoiding language on one of the few "clean" boards).

Yea, and look at them spending £15 Million to do up the Old Guinness house for a state guest house...... I wonder how much it will be a night, and will they offer bed and Breckfast including an Evening meal, or just B+B.

Thats true Take-it, and ther ealso arent enough guards for these prisons, but in the end its money talks, and its money thats needed to fund this, money which comes from taxes etc.
In the end its the common fools like us that pay whether we jail them or not.

Vigilantism is the only thing that'll sort out gimps who break the law and the law lets them get away with it.

"Yeh good idea officer paddy, let's jail old mrs.blah for not paying her TV licence, we'll just let out that serial donkey rapist and stick her in with the guy who dropped a ciggarette but on the ground."

The justice system in Iealand (and almost every other 'civilised country') is àrseways.

Sure, for the respectful people, the prospect of going to jail is hellish, your family and friends would be mortified, you could lose your job, and you'd miss your family.
But for the low-life syringe-mugging junkie population, jail is nothing but a free hotel.
You still get high, you still get to act the hard man infront of all your scanger friends.
Only now, you get proper meals, TV, and get free games of pool.
And as a bonus, you get to look even 'harder' infront of your outside buddies.

A better idea - put them in a cold, dark, cramped, wet pit on their own for a year... pìss on them through the bars, and scream abuse at them all day.

FFS, funny how humans treat animals worse than they do violent criminals.

    Kill em

I firmly believe that anyone who murders someone should be given the chair(or whatever is the flavour of execution that month).

    End

life should mean life because death means death

i dont think killing someone is the right answer, all you need is a fear of punishment, jail is meant to be a punishment but they still have pool tables etc for recreation. we should have chain gangs so at least we get something back out of them.

Well quite; when you've been in prison for a few years, you won't be all that afraid of going back in; you already KNOW what it's like, and frankly, while it'd be a shock to the system at first, it's not THAT bad.

We should make the Aran Islands into an Alcatraz style penal colony, make em speak Irish and all, that'd teach the ba$tards wink.gif

Its true they let the crazist ppl lose. About a year ago I guy I know got stabbed in the chest 3-4 times and was lucky to live. Yet the guy who did this is walking around with out a care in the world. To make it worse about a month before this he kicked seven shades of sh**e out of some lad leaving him in Hospital for a couple of weeks. Now please tell me how the guards can let him walk as he wa caught for both attacks. Yet I know guys getting pulled in over being Drunk and give a hard time. I thnk it stupid that ppl who speed and don't pay their ticket/fine get a sentence (all be it a week or two) and these ppl walk.

    Kayos,

Lets not mix up the gaurds, the judical system, and the penal system. This discussion was started by a critism of the judical system your post seems to lump the gaurds in as part of this, which over simplifies the situation.

i believe the real problem is in the penal system. Judges don't want to put people away for 2-5 years 'cause they'll just come out worse criminals.
