Tis very weird. I'm sending packets but not receiving.

I'm trying to set up my laptop and p.c through the same router (basic 3341 netopia/cayman from eircom), one thru USB and one thru ethernet. Either one will work fine on usb, the laptop won't even detect a network cable plugged in for ethernet, the p.c will and will send but not receive packets. Brand new cat5e cable, have sent laptop away because i though network card was dead(it wasnt) and i'm stumped.

I had both of them running fine thru this setup for weeks then all of a sudden stopped working. Thought i got it back up again tonite but no such luck.

    Anyone got any ideas?

dodgy cable - check lights at both ends and swap cables.

What OS (if windows which version) ?
    DHCP or static.

Manually set your Gateway and DNS in tcp/ip for 192.168.1.254 and your IP to 192.168.1.1 (assuming the modem is at default settings) and see what happens.
    ;)
