Bus Speed versus FSB (CPU-Z) & OCing

After forgetting about this program for a fairly long while I was reminded today by someone mentioning it today on the boards. So I got it and had a look again.

It lists my PC as having a FSB of 332.0 MHz (that's fine) but above that the FSB is listed as 166.0 Mhz. Is this normal? I thought both were the same?

My motherboard is the Asus A7V8X-MX SE. It's got an Athlon 2500+ (Barton core) in it. The manual lists the FSB as being 333/266/200 MHz.

This left me a little confused. Then when looking at the memory page I see that the Frequency is listed as 166 MHz also. Now the machine has 2 256 DDR400 chips. FSB:DDR is 1:1 so that would explain the RAM being 166. The question is how do I fix this? Maybe there isn't a problem at all but I do find my machine slow at times. In games for example where I think it should perform better (I have an NVidia 6800 GT).

The other question I have is OCing. Is there anything that can be done to OC my system? I did spend time lokoing into this a few months back and remember seeing that the motherboard isn't overclockable, which is a shame, but is there anything that can be done really? (aside from buying a more OCable motherboard)

    [Edit: Stupid smilies! ]

does your mobo support ddr400?if so .you can lock the ram Frequency at 400,and cpu run at 333 . barton 2500+ is easy to OC 3200+ with a good heat sink, but it seems your mobo does not support fsb400...

NVidia 6800 GT is a really nice card.you feel your pc slow ,maybe the cpu is the bottle-neck

DDR Memory is measured, Base Frequency * 2. Yours : 166MHz * 2 = 333MHz. Its normal. because DDR is clocked off both edges of the clock pulse.

DDR400 in your case will need the CPU to be overclocked (Base=200MHz which will take advantage of your Memory ) in turn overclock you CPU
