Few Questions? How did the person Le Resistance get access to the mod board, and also with the security issues on the webspace, is boards.ie not Safe?

OMFG TEHY R TALKING ABOUT US!

Who cares. The mods do their job, and generally do a damn fine job of that...job. I don't care what they talk about in their private forum, Though I imagine it's relatvely boring for non-mods

Naa... Mod will probably get de-modded, maybe banned and people will move on. As you can see the mods where telling the truth when they said the forum wasn't that intresting.

"I'm a mod, respect me in real life" and "I'm the boss don't piss me off or else" some mods do think there superior and judging by posts in your forum it is the case! ;)

Thats an example of what. All I see is a private correspondence taken out of context without the background. Pretty pathetic really you publishing it here. Looks like Beruthial marked your card right judging by you publishing it here.

Remember, deep down we all have the potential to turn into maniacal a*****es!

You know that mods have next to no power in the whole scheme of things.
PM them first, then if that isn't satisfactory, try PM'n an admin if you think you have a case.

LOL totally wrong in the majority of cases.

Put your point forward like a rational human being, do not insult the other posters, make sure your post has something to do with the topic on hand and you will be fine. Start mouthing off, abusing others, or posting non relavant rubbish and you will be banned or warned.

Its as simple as that in most cases.

Also as stated above if you have a problem with a mod, pm them first and then pm an admin if your not happy you have been given a fair hearing.

totally wrong in the majority of cases.
and then there is the minority who just really abuse their authority. mods who cannot form their own opinion and are generally swayed by others influence.
Better off contacting an admin but most of the time they're too busy to deal with it.

Point of information: It's la résistance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,458 ✭✭✭✭gandalf

    In response to keu:

I know of one mod recently that stepped down because the majority of posters disagreed with his running of the forum he was in charge of. Mods have also been demodded in the past for overstepping the mark. Yes the admins are busy but if people don't report what they consider abuse of authority then they cannot do anything about. Remember they and the mods have lives outside of boards and sometimes things can take time to get to, then again you are not paying for this community are you :)

Also bear in mind that the amount of whinges the admins get about warranted actions by mods is quite large as well if the volume of unfounded whinges I get about posts in politics are anything to go by (normally someone whinging that someone else doesn't agree with their opinion ).

There will be times that mods will over step the mark, we are human after all. But I try hard to make decisions based on the charter no matter what the content (obviously anything illegal gets stamped on rapid!).

but if people don't report what they consider abuse of authority then they cannot do anything about.
I see mods running rampant all over boards all the time, its their God given right, it's one thing to be able to weild that authority within their own forums and it's something I can appreciate but all you have to do is look around at other threads in other forums and notice some responses from mods, its generally troll like junk abusing other users because they can. (all that power gone to their head) I would like to give some examples but I know it would only cause lots of disgruntlement.
So when newbies arrive on the scene they adopt these attitudes and think .."oh hey..its ok to treat other users like sh*t because they can obviously do it and are allowed and they don't get into trouble, in fact the greater the troll you are the more respect you have.."

I don't have issues with them within their own forums, they can have all the respect they want in there, but I'm tired of the abuse recieved from them outside of their domains.

I assume you clicked on this icon report.gif and reported the post and if the mod did nothing about it, you reported it to the admins then. Because if you didn't there is no point in you mouthing off here is there?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,811 ✭✭✭✭billy the squid

well seeing as you linked to the copied moderatords forum you might take a look at it again, mods havew been banned from other forua for breaking the rules, and mods have been banned outright by the admins for breaking the rules.
