Hey, I had no connection at all last weekend (3 Rock Mast) and now I am getting very strange pings that are consistant and reproducable
Pinging boards.ie [82.195.131.130] with 32 bytes of data:

    Reply from 82.195.131.130: bytes=32 time=107ms TTL=58
    Request timed out.

    Reply from 82.195.131.130: bytes=32 time=112ms TTL=58

    Request timed out.

eventually ending up with stats of:
    Ping statistics for 82.195.131.130:
        Packets: Sent = 100, Received = 34, Lost = 66 (66% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
        Minimum = 97ms, Maximum = 1636ms, Average = 266ms

Any ideas? Could this be something at my end, though Ive checked...

looks like you have a dodgy connection. Theres nothing that can be done except you call IBB and let em know you're mightily angry that your connection is unusable. etc etc.

my pings have been terrible lately too - 100% packet loss... regularly pinging from 150-999 in games... predominantly since they ran some upgrade at the end of november - prior to that I had no hassles - I'm not sure if I'm 3 rock or guinness (I'm right in the middle of them) - I emailed them tonight cos its playing havoc with my gaming...

I've even had times where surfing is awful - timing out connecting to websites etc....

Was happy - last 2 weeks have been absolutely awful...

    Thank God!!!!
I thought I was the only one.
    I'm on the ballymun mast.
My ripwave was great before the upgrade too!!!
But like yours, the last 2 weeks for me has been an outrage.
Its gone to the stage that when i get home to Laois, the Internet
loads refreshingly fast over my 56k modem!!!

I used to defend ripwave originally but after the last 12 days I'm afraid
I have had to enter the "Ripwave Hater" camp.

I sent in my application form for Breeze Lite today.
Hopefully i will get an installation in the end of Jan.

The situation didn't make me mad like other users here.
    I'm just disappointed. :(

I haven't been using my connection that much since mid December, but I've noticed a LOT of packet loss on my connection recently since I've started using it a lot again, which is really annoying because I was very close to trying to buy access to some online streams, which are unwatchable now!

I was very happy when I started off with it, around October I think, but packet loss has been outrageous lately. I'm on the Ballymun tower as well. I'm going to try and actually graph this over a period of time and see what the average packet loss per minute or 10 minute period is.

Ping times for me to my next hop range from just over 100ms to up to 500ms, from purely empirical evidence.

    Phil.

Fairly safe to say that from above, IBB is patchy - I generally only tested on the days that I was having problems - but it pans out at least twice a week that the service was poor....

If I had a choice I'd switch, but I may press them for the 1.5mb line....

I'm SO glad I left that shower of cowboys. I was having the exact same problems this time last year. They still haven't sorted their sh1t out, all I ever see here is people complain about IBB!!

I'm on IOL Broadband Plus, not a problem since I got it about 10 months ago.

Hey, I had no connection at all last weekend (3 Rock Mast) and now I am getting very strange pings that are consistant and reproducable

Yup, I am consistantly getting around 60% packet loss in the same consistancy you are seeing (one ping, two lost, one ping, etc) - I rang up IBB about it two or three times since Xmas but no satisfaction as of yet. Maybe ring em up and report it too, maybe they dont realise its not a local thing?
