Not /really/ a personal issue but the only place to post anonymous.... so.
what would you do if you ordered something on the internet a while back which hadn't arrived, and you rang up to tell them that it didn't arrive so they said they would post out a second one for free, but the first one then arrived the next day?
Would you fess up and send it back, or keep it yourself (the first one was ordered as a present anyway....)?

For me, It would depend on what type of business I ordered it off. If it was a small place I'd ring them back to save them hassle.

Happened to me with a cd from amazon... They told me that if it does actually arrive that i can either keep it with their compliments or donate it to a charity...
No charity representative being readily available to accept... i gave it to a friend :P

I'd let them know. Most companies will just tell you to keep it, since returning it can be a hassle. But, it depends on the value of the item.

Always pays to be honest. Many items are tracked, so they can trace if it's delivered or not. If they can confirm both are delivered, they're well within their right to charge you twice if you don't return it.

give them a ring and confess to the whole sordid affair.

Chances are they'll tell you to keep it. They get brownie points (to counteract the ones lost through the delivery delay) and avoid the small hassle of loggin the returned purchase.

I always send the things back whenever this happens. They usually remiburse you for postage.

I've never really been one for petty theft...

That happened to me with play.com, and I told them and they told me to send it back at my own expense, so I just kept it. They haven't emailed me back wondering where it was yet.

Same happend to me with play.com - ordered a copy of Das Boot but they sent out two by accident. Rang 'em up and sent back the second copy. They refunded me the postage, as well as being very gracious that I had the decency to return what wasn't mine.

Send it back man, as they say, the wheel goes around :)

it was from sendit.com and was a DVD box set collectors edition. value 32 sterling. bit heavy 1.2KG - would cost a fair bit to send back.... hence why not keen to send it.

Being the good boy that I am I would have to say return it.... If they don't refund u the postage of said item they will burn in hell in the afterlife but u will go to heaven and be surrounded by virgins and so on.....

I got two Elvis CD's from cdwow.com by accident, so I offered one for free to the first person to PM me, on an Elvis forum I sometimes frequent..

The same thing happened to me a while ago.

I bought an item off the internet, a month and a bit went by no item. I sent an email to them, they sent me one back asking me to check that it wasn't held at customs or in my local post office as they had posted it about 3 days after I ordered it. Did the checks, sent them an email telling them that no one had it. They replied saying they would send me another.

2 days later it arrived. Then 2 weeks later the same item arrived. I didn't bother to pick it up knowing that it would be returned to the sender saving me the shipping expense. Also none of my mates wanted the DVD "Chunky Chicks 3" :D

Keep the one you bought, wrap the other one and give it to someone for Christmas.
