Mirror sub callback problems

    Hi Folks,

I'm having problems with my old Grundig mirror sub digibox calling Sky, it hasn't dialled back in 2 months!?! Sky+ box is fine

What seems to happen is the box tries to dial but fails to connect then doesn't seem to be able to hangup, the house phone has a busy tone until the cable is disconnected but even when reconnected the digibox reports a busy line until rebooted

I've spend the last 2 weeks with Sky tech trying various things, plonkers can't get over the idea that the phone I'm calling on is the same as the digibox and usually send a callback request while I'm on the phone to them and the whole system locks up, I then end up spending 5-10mins getting it ready again only to go through the whole problem again with a different plonker, v frustrating!!!!

Now I'm being threatened with an additional FULL sub by Sky and to make matters worse I'm not covered for repair work as I placed my order through a local dealer

Has anyone any idea what might be causing the problem and how to resolve it. :(:(

Sounds like a modem problem perhaps, have you tried a forced software download? I'd also suggest putting the box on the line you know works ok just to eliminate that as a possible cause.

just a quick related question... :)

I recently got Sky+ and a mirror sub, so both boxes have to be connected now (haven't had it connected for years beforehand) but Sky cust service had me add 142 as a prefix as my number is ex-directory/hidden from CLI.

Is this necessary/gonna cause any probs?

It should be ok, (i assume 142 is correct) they just want to be sure that both boxes are at the same house

Hmm, this may not work, but work checking.

Take a good look at the back of the Grundig box. In the phoneline socket, there are 4 pins. Just make sure none of the pins are crossing each other (i've had this occur).

Otherwise, it may indeed be the digibox modem (or perhaps iffy software where a forced software download may fix?)

    hi,

I did a forced download last night and I'll check the digibox phone pins this evening, I'll let you know how it goes,

Thanks for the help so far :D
