Yesterday I bought a Silver Crest KH 6507 player from Lidl. It has an unbelieveable amount of functionality for €79.99! What really got me was progressive scan and component video output. Plays beautifully on a projectopr. It can also play directly from a variery of memory cards.

The only think missing is a region hack. Anybody know of a region hack for this player?

Yep, it works perfectly. I am now playing region 1 and 2 DVD's. I don't have any from anyother region but I think it's fair to assume they will work too.

Do you mean connecting the speakers directly to the DVD player or using a dolby digital amp/receiver?
I am using a philips receiver connected using a digital coaxial cable. I probably had to do something in the audio setup on the player to instruct it to output dolby digital. If you are connecting speakers directly then there are a lot audio more settings that you can set up.
