Change to female where appropriate of course.

The dynastic nature of Irish politics makes me puke. e.g. Jackie Healy-Rae. Is there any county other than Kerry where that individual could get elected? Once in proceeds to do not an awful lot nationally, dont know what he does locally, perhaps any Kerry readers could enlighten me? Oh wait, he claims, totally groundlessly, that we have 85,000 asylum seekers in the country.

Meanwhile John O'Donoghue (a man with definite fascist leanings) says it's around 12,000. So why does Healy-Rae say 85,000? Cos he knows it will whip up the ignorant section of his support who like to be scared into thinking that a wave of immigrants is going to flood into this country.

Frankly if they do I'd be fu<king delighted cos they seem to be better adjusted and more intelligent people than some of the Irish morons you meet on the streets.

Why was Mildred Fox elected in Wicklow? Because her dad had just died and she got the sympathy vote - 'ah jasus the poor girl, sure I'll give her me vote, give her something to do while she gets over it'.

Michael Lowry in Tipperary, exposed as an utterly corrupt person, a bribe taker and a liar. Next election - Independent candidate who stands against him on an anti-corruption platforms gets about 150 votes, Lowry - 11,000. Ok, it the people of Tipp North want a corrupt liar to represent them in parliament, that's their business 'ah sure he's a great fella and did me a favour 20 years ago'. Until this parochialism ends Irish politics is a waste of time.

While the school shall remain nameless, a certain TD's son that went to one of my cousins school (years ago) got an A in his leaving cert Art exam.

Which is good going for someone who didn't actually take the class or sit the exam.

but no one cares. who gives a shi.t?
    "politics is boring."
"politicians don't represent me, so i don't vote."

my immeadiate friends will at least vote, but a massive majority of my acquaintences won't. when a certain board-posting friend asked me who i vote for, he laughed at me when i said the greens. (as an attempt to give a wwake up call to the larger corrupt parties who tolerate the likes of john "at least the gestapo were white" o'donaghue.

oh well, more slander from kevin. oops. sorry minister.

What the fu<k is wrong with the greens. i vote for them. Why ? why the fu<k not ? They may be corrupt, i dont know, but at least they seem to have certain priorities with regards the environment, and at least their not a bunch of corrupt, rascist, xenophobic, ignorant, toothless, cronies who cant speak properly.

Say hello to my little friend !!!

i vote for them too. but my friends think i am throwing away my vote. if a lot of people voted greens (even if they supported ff, fg or pds) then the larger corrupter crappier parties would have to change their attitudes.

VOTE YOUR GREEN CANDIDATE NO. 1!

Dont kid ureselves. The greens are as corrupt as any others. Certain green party members have given my local area lots of trouble. Ill explain.
Since 1990 my local area in west Cork has been unable to get a TV reception for ANY channel, except satellite (thank god for satellite). A rebeaming ariel was supposed to be erected before the world cup in 1994 so that we could watch the world cup. No sign of it as of yet, now being a decade without RTE here. The reason for this?
    Well there are lots.
RTE are lazy. Thay dont care.
The local politicians are lazy. They dont care.
And the biggest reason of all:

When the local community got it together to push ahead with the new mast, they were refused planning permission.
    Why?
The ariel wasnt visible, and not big, nor ugly. And anyway, the only ppl who would see it, wanted it so they could have TV.

The objection was on the grounds, that the ariel would affect the growth of a rare type of LICHEN on the wall next to it!!!

The objection was on the grounds of a plant that wasnt being affected in the least. How do we know this?
Because the people who objected, part of An Taisce, had NEVER EVER been to the site that was being proposed.

When the local community replied to the objection, the planning authority told us that we had replied too late, only having 30 days to reply. We had replied within a week of hearing about the objection, but the objection itself was dated a month before that.

An Taisce representatives eventually agreed to visiting the site with community members, and after this meeting agreed to withdraw their objection (which they now had to admit was groundless) from any future objections.
We applied for planning again. This is 1998 at this stage.
    What happens?
    2 OBJECTIONS!
One from a woman from dublin, the other from a man in Mayo. Neither had visited the site, or had ever been to our village in their lives.
    Why did they object?
Because a member of an taisce, and something of a ******* by all accounts, asked them to.
They objected on the grounds that previous objections had been upheld.
    FFS!
Every one of these people are green party do-gooders.
But where is the corruption you ask?
    Its in their NOT objecting.

The guy who asked these ppl to object, is a "planning consultant", which basically means that if you hire him, he wont object to your site, and will tell his contacts not to either.
What, a load, of utter, BOLL.OX!

Eventually we forced local ministers to get involved, we had to force these ppl from mayo and dublin to withdraw their objections, (which they claim they did willingly when they realised that there were lonely old people, who had to sit in a house on their own all day, and couldnt even watch TV because of them) and now we have planning permission since 1999.
However a year on RTE are STILL lazy bastar ds and havent got the ariel up.
    hmmmph.

Well thats my rant for the day.

What part of West Cork you in Paladin
(under ground) We get TV (even though TV sucks) channels just the same as everyone else.

But its when the roads are taken away thats when we have trouble.

Which leaves sinn fein and the independants. Well, the independants still have to prove their independance, so should I vote for sinn féin? Hmm, better not, they might start shooting people.

Heh, Sinn Fein or the Independents; Sinn Fein or Me Fein, more like. Independents always align themselves wherever the power and influence is in the Dail, and you can be damn sure it isn't their constituents best interests they have at heart when they do it!

Cavan/Monaghan next election time should be interesting; Dr Rory O'Hanlon is making noises about stepping down as FF candidate, and naturally, there's a son (Shane) who is groomed for the position. The fact that he seems to be quite a gormless kind of individual seems not to present a problem to this appointment (although it may well swing enough vote to SF to give them a second seat in the next election)...

Given the problems at party level in ALL parties in this country, there's only one way to vote. Ignore the parties, focus on the PERSON you are electing. There are good people in all the parties just as there are bad eggs, and if you simply vote for the person you believe can represent you best, then you can honestly say that you have done your best in choosing suitable representation for you in the Dail.

    Ja,
    Rob
