Feeling Sick

    Morning everyone!

Recently I have been feeling sick almost constantly. It is not that severe, but is quite uncomfortable.

A few years ago I had the same symptoms and when I visited the doctor, he informed me that I probably had an ulser. I had the whole endoscope thing done and the ulser was confirmed. I took medication and the problem went away.

In the last few weeks the symptoms have returned and I suspect so has my ulser.......

My question for anyone that can answer it is. Is there anything I can take, medicinally or otherwise, to help relieve the symptoms? I really don't have '50-odd' Euro to go to the doctor this side of Christmas and don't really want to suffer over the holidays. I just want some relief and if any of you have any suggestions (like drinking milk, taking a particluar 'over the counter' medicine, etc) I would be greatful of the advice!

And for those of you thinking it is aggravated by excessive drinking, then I have been out once in the past two weeks or so and am not a heavy drinker but I do smoke.........I KNOW! I KNOW! That's being knocked on the head very soon.

Thanks in advance for your help and HAPPY CHRISTMAS to you all.

Sounds like what he gave you was probably on a prescription, so you'll have to go back to the doc. Unless you can convince him to fax in another prescription to your pharmacy so you don't have to go see him again. But I doubt this will happen :)

It's not worth saving 50-odd euro and risking a perforation.

Go to the doctor and have him prescribe some medication.

yeah back to the doctor with you!...... if this a regular occurance you might think about applying for a medical card?

if you do however want a DIY method anything with mint is supposed to ease nausea and stomach problems. try colpermin (think thats right) tablets.....

The thing about ulcers is that when they are left untreated they grow, and when they grow they become dangerous. If left untreated, severe ones can lead to hospitilisation. Best to deal with it now, it might be €50 Euro now, but it could be alot more if you leave it till after christmas, especially with all the rich foods and the drinking that goes on around christmas. If you want to ease it, dont eat anything acidic, make sure you eat as much healthy stuff as you can, things that are easy to digest. Also if the you experience Nausia have a glass of ginger ale. Also this is one of the times that hash becomes medicinal, it relaxes all the muscles in the stomach, but be careful not to give into the munchie desire for peperoni pizza

    OK!

I accept that I should really go to the doctor and I fully intend to........... but it's going to cost a small fortune (the cost of the doc and then the medicine) and I really can't afford it just yet.

Don't think I would wqualify for a medical card, as this is the first time in about 4 years that it has affected me for this lenght of time.

I will try the "mint" thing to see if I get any relief, until I can get to the doctor.

I don't intend to let it get so bad that I end up in hospital, so if I feel it is getting any worse........I'll be straight to the doctor!

As my mother always said "you'll be better before you're married" (little does she know!)

    thanks again

    Cb

THIS IS NOT A MEDICAL FORUM

nobody in here can tell you what you should be taking and in my view it would be dangerous for you to take advice from strangers on the internet - WHO ARE NOT DOCTORS

is your life and health not worth 50 yoyos?????
    go see a doctor man!
