    I'm just waiting for my new alienware laptop to be delivered now.

    I haven't even gotten the machine yet but already i'm so impressed i'm almost speechless with the service.

    The website is fantastic to configure and order your own machine, their based in athlone so local enough call if you have any queries, when you order the system they call you back to confirm order and clear up any queries again. Your given a tracking number with which you can log onto their website and keep an eye on what process your machine is going through at the moment.

    Its excellent service, if you email them a question you get a near instant reply no waiting about.

    If the laptop is half as good as the sales service now i will be impressed!

    What kind of spec are you looking at getting?

    Whereabouts did he ask anything about the price? No doubt some other gimps will come onto the thread, whinging about building your own PC. He has already ordered the damn PC, he wants to know how the service, delivery etc is. Not your opinion on the poxy price!

    Ya i here some good stuff about alienware they look nice and have some decent specs, but then again like bloodbath said they would want to be for the price you pay.

    Would you not consider building yourself?

    Who asked you for your opinion? I didn't see you offering any help either. Alienwares customer service is probably the best out there but when your paying 50-100% more than building yourself you would expect it.

    You gimps are so predictable. Who asked for your opinion on the expensive price of an Alienware system eh? Nobody. That's right.

    Opinion on their customer service you've only just provided after I insinuated you may be a gimp. Which you have just proven you are.

    As for the original posters question. Alienware systems are very, very well built, their customer service is top notch. Enjoy.

    btw i think there is a user on here who actually works for alienware, i can remember seeing a post where somebody was going for an interview with them anyway

    I'm entitled to say what I like, the same as anyone else. I personally beleive alienware are a rip off although a quality rip off. Try not to be such a **** in future. You didn't provide an opinion on customer service either until I mentioned it so I guess that makes you a gimp as well.

    look the whole point of a disscussion board is to voice your opinons, that's all bloodbath was doing...

    fair enough the orignal poster didn't say anything about building himself but bloodbath voiced his opinon on what alienware is like as a company.

    i for one agree with bloodbath,

    alienware make excellent pc's top notch, you are paying extra for the quality customer service you recieve.

    look the only gimp here is you. firstly your constant use of the word gimp . AaArgHh. and the question was basically is there service good bloodbath said "it would want to be for the money your paying" now what is wrong with saying that?? he didnt say go build a pc yourself and if somebody wants to say to person about to spend 2000+ on a pc that they could probably make the pc them selves for nearly half that then they are entitled to without some self-righteous moron coming on making derogatory coments and showing himself to me a tedious moron.

    Yeah. The gimp thing - in my first post I said "some other gimp will come on whinging about building his own PC" and lo and behold. So I stuck with the gimp thing. Sorry about that, but my point was proven.

    The OP says he couldn't be arséd building his own, so why are you all telling him to? Every mention of Alienware on boards always has a load of - dare I say it - gimps, who pop on just to whinge about the price, and to "build your own, wha wha" I just decided to give out about it today.

    You're entitled to say what you want. As am I in reply.

    Now my argument is finished but if you motherfúckers want to keep coming on to call me more names and gang up on me, then keep goin'. I'm finished here anyway. I think the original poster has the info he needs.

    PS - Do you know what self righteous means?

    Hi calis,

    Never used alienware but the consensus seems to be that they're pretty expensive but that you really do get what you pay for with them.

    Also thanks to your thread we seem to have established that computers and the internet are now easy enough for 3 year olds to use with impunity.

    Roffles. That single comment made me go back and read the entire thread . :)

    Anyway, calis, if you cba building your own, and you have the money, then alienware is the way to go.

    Here's the algorithm:

    if (CBA && cash)
    {
    Alienware = TRUE;
    }
    else if (can_build)
    {
    Build = TRUE;
    }
    else
    {
    Dell = True;
    }

    Me = geek;

    You still wont beat me at insta bud ;)

    u'd think before paying way over the odds for a system, that a person would want to make sure that it would arrive in time and without hassles, rather than ask afterwards when its a moot point anyway.

    For instance if I said:

    "Alienware generally take ten weeks to deliver", there ain't much he can do about it now.

    The other option is that he wanted to show off he just spent way over the odds on an alienware computer, in which case this is the wrong forum to do it on, seeing as people don't like paying way over the odds for a system.

    And notice i've used the phrase "way over the odds" alot. While an Alienware system might be better than a Dell, if the person buying it has any computer savvy, they won't buy one cos they know if they build their own they can get a much better system, and if they don't have any computer savvy they'd be as well off with a Dell. Either way, Alienware plays to the rich idiots market, which is fair enough if you're a rich idiot, just accept it and enjoy your very nice Alienware which you paid way over the odds for.

    :)

    Europe Alienware's service is very very good, but USA's service is not so good, many people have reported having problems with them, and aweful customer service

    If you value good aftersales service and excellent support as worth about 500euro, then alienware is definately worth it. A friend of mine got one, and every problem he's had has been sorted out very promptly (when possible). Including them sending him out a replacement CD-RW drive when his stopped working after a week or three.

    But as has been said, its quite pricy, but worth the price if you just want good aftersales.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,823 ✭✭✭Horsefumbler

    I got one. And tbh i kinda regret it. I mean the PC is great, looks dope and service is top notch but when I think of what i spent on it I could have either saved myself a few hundred or got a much higher spec PC for the same money. The next PC I get wil be one I make myself.

    If you've already made up your mind to buy it, bah enjoy it. Live and learn ;)

    But as an actual alienware owner I would say build your own.

    Btw the only complaint I would have with them: it took a fair while to get the machine after I'd ordered it. I think it was nearly 5 weeks. Thats a bit bent :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,785 ✭✭✭Farls

    I ordered mine on the 9th i think it was and decided to call over to Athlone to collect it myself, they had it ready on the 16th so i called down the following saturday and picked it up.

    They give you a date of estimated completion and email you straight away if there's any problems encountered or it changes.

    I currently have my new alienware laptop here but being a big kid i'm keeping it till christmas before i use it ;) I'll fill you in then on what i think of it, but it better be good costing me over two grand!

    As i've said before though the customer service is astonishing if your used to using komplett/GLS/DHL/Marx as i was in the past.

    I ordered an alienware comp on the 10th of Dec, Thinking about it now and after reading a couple of informable posts, not those who've basically been flaming, I'm going about cancelling it as of tomorrow. Is this possible seeing as how I havent recieved it and when I checked the customer service thing on there website and did a search there was indeed a thing referring to cancelling either a part or the system itself.
