Ben Browder joins Stargate SG1 regular cast

I'm guessing SG-1 will get a new team member. Any other ideas?

That's great news and it's been confirmed by Execute Producer J. Mallozzi so it IS true.

Now, as some of you may know, RDA (Richard Dean Anderson) has not stated whether he'll be returning or not. Even if he does, it's in an extremely limited capacity due to his desire to be with his family, who live far away from filming in Vancouver. Therefore by bringing in a heavy genre name, they're probably hoping to have him as the star attraction - which'll mean a team member. I don't know how they'd replace Carter as the SG1 lead, but they may do that to create friction on the team.

The only slightish snag - if you want to see it as one - is that Michael Shanks (Daniel) looks quite quite like Ben Browder.

Anyway good news and should work in SG1's favour for beating X-Files to Season 10

Excellent, I think he'll definitely be a welcome addition to the show. It really all comes down to the chemistry between the characters/actors though, so we'll see what he's like when he joins the cast

Hmm... This sucks **** tbh. Ben buggering off to join SG1 means less possibility of another season of Farscape. Although, perhaps that's just me being greedy, as I've not even seen Season 4 and The Peacekeeper Wars yet, and I'm still after more.

You could probably get the Season 4 australian boxset. It'll be AGES before it's released in Region 2.

Of course we also have Claudia Black buggering off to Stargate She was quite good in Prometheus Unbound. She'll be doing at least 5 more episodes in Season 9. I heard she was reluctant to do another season of Farscape anyway as it was leaving her totally exhausted. In fairness to her she played the role of Aeryn with ferocious intensity for the first 3 seasons (her character waned a bit during Season 4 and PKW, she started turning into Betty Crocker or something).

Madness! When I saw the name Ben Browder I suspected it was the guy from Farscape but having him alongside Shanks just seemed so improbable...

Must say I like him, himself and Black are the only parts of Farscape I liked. I wonder if they've brought in Browder specifically because he looks like Shanks, did Daniel ever rule out having any siblings?

I remember seeing a statement from the show officials saying that Browder would not be playing a relative of Shanks, nor would he be replacing Shanks.

I remember watching Farscape first and thinking that Crichton was Michael Shanks. Seperated at birth.

Farscape is the most genius tv ever conceived, good that hes joining sg1 but id much rather see a fifth Farscape season... miss it so much pkw was amazing

They agreed on a name for him a while back.
Also, he'll have the same rank as Carter and it's undecided which of them will be the team leader.

I don't like his joining though.
There is truck load of better charcters that we're already familiar with that could have joined.
I woud haave loved to see Col. Dave Dixon join.
He was the leader of Sg-13 in 'Heroes pt.1' when they went to that planet that had the Ancient ruins.
He was cool.

I do beleave that is Adam Baldwin you are talking about. He also plays Jane in Firefly and in the upcoming firefly movie. I wouldn't be surprised if they have him on a contract in case the movie does well and they get a second sesion. Although good call on that. He is a very good acter who delivers smartassed comments with fantastic timing and a kind of charm. He would have been a good choice for the forth team member.

Well the main reason I suggested him was because if you remember that episode....Sg-13, were practically Sg-1 No.2.

Their leader was a smart arsed, soldier boy Colonol.
They had a nerdy arceologist who was overy eager to see the ancient ruins etc....

He essentially, was...Jack, so, with the lose of Jack, then ext ebst thign would be the pseudo Jack.
