I'm not a huge fan of Daniel Negreanu but theres no doubting how good he is. This article, , I found very interesting (some of you may have read it in the free issue of Card Player going in the Fitz at the moment). He does give some good insight in his articles into how his mind works in certain situations although at times it looks like hes also trying/but not trying to make himself look good (i.e. thoughtfully making the A8 his second prediction on Annie Dukes hand to look good but not to loook too good).

It's definately a good read, but one thing that comes across is that a huge amount of his information comes from prior knowledge of his opponents. It's soooo much easier to play against regular opponents. But if you sit into a tournament tonight, a lot of the table will be filled with unknowns, so the hand analysis becomes a lot harder. It almost comes down to ABC poker, with a bit of instinct thrown in.

So maybe he's making it look much easier than it actually is for the ordinary player?

That hand just happened to be against a well known player, most of his hands arent.

Why dont you like him Muso? The only fault I have with him (apart from his dress sense) is the fact that he lives with his mother.* He must be 35+!

    * This might not actually be true

No harm in asking I suppose.

Dappergent: Hey Daniel, I love your column in cardplayer. Do you have any advice for playing mid pairs in the late stages of a tournament?

Daniel: Hey Thanks a lot. Ooh thats a toughie, but you know me, I do like to play a lot of pots! Id say but in a standard raise and take it from there.

Dappergent: Wow thanks a lot Daniel, cant wait to try that out at the local cardroom. By the way can I have a go of your bird?

Daniel: Have a go of my what?

Dappergent: You Buurd. Your mot. She who must be obeyed.

    Daniel: Why you little %*&*&**!
