    Hi all.
Just bought a Gigabyte 5900XT and in the manual it says I should flash my BIOS with the Gigabyte BIOS or else the card may not function properly. Does anyone have any experience with this? Does it make a difference really? If so can anyone give me some advice on how to do it properly. The instructions are a bit sketchy at best and I've never flashed a BIOS before. (Always nervous of screwing up my machine  )
    Thanks

Are you sure it doesn't say something like "You should only flash your BIOS with a Gigabyte BIOS"?

I think the implication is more to the effect that if you chose to update your BIOS you should only use an official Gigabyte BIOS.

Is it possible you are misreading what it says in the manual like Leeroy says?
I can't see Gigabyte recommending people to flash their bios without need. It is possible to flash the bios on 5900XT cards, but that is usually only done by enthusiasts who flash in order to make the card operate at higher speeds/gain performance using the bios from a faster 5900 model such as a 5900 ultra or a standard 5900 (XT is a lower specced model than the standard 5900).
You shouldn't have to flash anything to get the card to work though normally, it should work as what it is - a 5900XT without doing anything to it.

    Doh!
You're probably right. I'll re-read he manual and double check it. That would make sense all right.
    Cheers for the heads-up. :)

    Hey
This is actual text from the manual. Do you still think it's just a precaution for a future BIOS flash?
In order to ensure your graphics card working correctly, please use official Gigabyte BIOS only.
Use none official gigabyte BIOS might cause problem on the graphics
    card.

Yep, they are not saying to flash the card at all.
Just put the card in your pc, install your Nvidia drivers and you are good to go.
