Can you have two gmail accounts effectively?

    Very simple question.

I need to make a new web-based e-mail account for newsletter subscriptions, etc. Don't wanna share my regularly used account because I'm easy pickings for advertising.

Now what I was wondering was if its practicle to have two gmails accounts? With the firefox notifier what happens if it's logged into my original account and yet I'm viewing my 2nd account? Presumably this scenario could happen with 2 family members. I'd prefer gmail as its quicker and ad-free (ish) compared to the others. I can just see it getting messy.

    Anyone done this?

Couldn't you just get another temporary account, and send yourself an invite? You won't be able to log onto the two accounts at the same time with the Gmail Notifier, but you should be able to swap back and forth...

run two different browsers. I was doing the same recently with safari and firefox. Didn't seem to be a problem

    Good idea.

Erm, sorry to ask (i know there's a thread elsewhere) but I've been good enough to use my other invites - anyone care to send me one?! :D

    Actually...

Is it just stupidly complicated to have both the official gmail notifer and the firefox extension running - one for each acount.

Or...I could make the new one auto-forward into the old...

    *brain explodes with ideas*

Well If you have two familly members or such, then you should really use 2 different firefox profiles. They allow you to keep all your data seperate

Click the big red link on the right hand side called "Invite a Friend to GMail".

It's not there. Maybe they don't like me or something.

Well then, you don;'t have any invites to send... I haven't gotten any in a while either, now that I think of it... Maybe they're not issuing them anymore...

You can indeed run two instances of gmail notifier.
