Could someone recommend somewhere where I might be able to buy early editions of books. Preferrably in Dublin, but I am willing to travel almost all of the country. Antiquarian or Rare bookshops?

    Thanks

There's a shop on one of those streets that connect Grafton St to Dawson St (can't remember which one, I think it's the one with Marks and Spencers on the corner). It specialises in Irish books, quite expensive but that's the game with antique books. If you have something you're looking for try www.abebooks.com, it's very good.

I think it's called Kenny's Books, in Dublin...but it's a hunt and peck sort of search...but they have everything...and the rooms are organized by topic...ie.rare, O/P books, Irish language books, Used books, New Books, World History, Irish History, Fiction & Lit...you name it, they've probably got it. All you have to do is find it. I spent a full day in there and didn't see half of what there was to see.

The shop on Duke St is quite good, but if you're ever in London there's a street near the British Museum (I think it's called "Museum Street", but I'm not sure) that's got about half a dozen really good antiquarian book shops.

You really have to go with either a lot of money in your pocket, or with no money and your credit/debit cards being kept by someone who'll save you from temptation.

No - no luck - left it too late (for christmas). Was interested in picking up a first edition of One Hundred Years of Solitude. It was definetly something that required a couple of months of preparation.
