Advise needed on SATA set-up configuration

Just got 2 160 Gig SATA spinpoints from Dabs and I am looking for advice on the best configuration. I have an existing 80 Gig IDE drive. From reading previous posts I have ruled out raid 0 as if I lose the raid controller or one of the disks I loose the lot. My plan is to install XP pro on one spinpoint and use it for general work including games. The second one will be used for DVD backups and general video conversions. My hope is that having the video on a separate disk will balance the load. The existing 80 gig IDE will be used as a backup disk. Is this a reasonable plan? Will the SATA and IDE disks conflict with each other? I have an Abit IC7 max 3 board.

    Thanks

i have 2 x 120gig and 1 x 200gig, and have it set up so the 2x120 are raid 0, and I backup to the 200gig drive (can be automated by various backup progs).

probs gonna get 2x300gig drives next year for raid 0, and upgrade the 200gig drive when I need more backup space (not everything needs backed up really).
