512Mb NEON OXY MP3/WMA Player, I was thinking of buying this mp3 player as a Christmas present from http://www.shop4memory.co.uk/ EUR109.00.
    Is this a good deal?
Has anyone bought from this site before?
    Thanks

No idea about your machine but the guys in shop4memory are very good. They're based in Celbridge. Just bought stuff off them last week.

Got something off them a couple of weeks ago. Was here the day after I ordered it. I picked up the package at reception and was wondering what the hell it was because I wasn't expecting it so soon!! :D

I would recommend the Neon player - I have one & it's excellent value.

Try this guy, should be able to pick up a decent one for about half the price. He is usaully pretty fast too.

Ditto. I got two of them off him recently for about €135 incl p&p... :D
Pity he won't combine shipping; I emailed him and asked — as I'd won the two of them within a few hours of each other — but just got back a big long (very polite) explanation about their intl shipping being by the 10g increment, therefore no saving for them.

Still, for €65-€70, delivered to your door...?

Yep. Mad or what? €40-odd for the player, €26 to the Hong Kong Post Office...

Best way to get a cheap player is to use a sniper... ;)

Ah but that is not the case. The actual postage from Hong Kong is about HK$15 to HK$20 whick is about €1.50 to €2.00

I agree that at the end of the day you get a still cheap player but I wish they would be honest with their shipping charges.

Yeah, I know what you mean.

I reckon there's two kinds of eBay sellers — the genteel amateur guy who's just clearing out his attic and will usually go to all sorts of trouble to quote you the real postage cost ...and the "Power sellers" who are whacking out these things by the crateful (you've noticed this guy sells almost nothing else..?) and for whom hiked-up postage charges are a significant part of their profit.

Still — he delivers fast, and the gear is good.
Argos are still charging €99.99 for a 128Mb player, ffs...
(which makes that Neon jobbie a pretty damn good deal as well! :))

This is very true - I've got stuff off ebay were the postage was at least three times the cost of the stamp and the envelope...

Yeah, I agree that this ebay dude has silly postage charges, but if you can get a 512mb mp3 player off him for €40 (+ postage = €65), it's still an amazing price for the item delivered to your door, is it not? I can't see how anyone can complain about the postage, when it still comes out €30-40 cheaper than most online shops. If he wanted to charge me €1 for the mp3 player and €65 for post and packaging, I'm still a winner (or am I crazy?).

Well... you would be €1 worse off! ;)

Few quick questions on this :

    1. Has anyone got one of the Lidl one's on a previous promo?
    2. Does 512Mb NEON OXY MP3/WMA Player allow "line in" direct encoding? I want to record stuff directly off satellite and radio?
    3. Any idea how long 512Mb equates to? timewise.
    TIA.

    4. Presumably because its flash memory, it can't be expanded.

Well, I can answer one of those questions... 512mb would be:
16 Hours of music at 64kbps.
    8 hours at 128kbps.
    5.5 hours at 192kbps.

Note that this is worked UP from 192kbps... so not entirely accurate, but close.

    Cheers Base.
Mind you that begs another question.
    5.Can you set compression rate ( i.e. 64 or 128 or 192 kbps ) at different qualitities using "line-in" function ?
