    hi
i'm heading to NYC for the New Year and will prob be building a new pc for a friend over there, but I don't know where to buy the parts yet.
would anyone know, from experience etc, where's some good component stores in NYC that are priced reasonably?

i'm thinking of a US version of Maplin/Dabs/Watford Electronics etc...

    cheers

HacksawEddie, what i always do is buy the parts online from the cheapest american store i can find at the time and get it sent to the place you will be staying or else some other big hotel and then pick it up urself. you can have probs with some american sites only accepting american credit cards.

J&R Computer, 15 Park Row (Manhattan, about 100yards or so to the east of Broadway and Vesey, City Hall Park is across the road from the store) is the nearest thing to Maplin's that I know of in terms of a high street retailer in NY. Friend of mine was in there last Thursday while over there xmas shopping. Nowhere near the selection that online retailer's like Newegg would offer but they do stock as much or more than Maplins.
