Nope no problems at all. I formatted my pc recently and installed SP2 directly with XP no problems at all.
What kind of problems do you have?

installed it on about 15 pc's, one had to be rebuilt after the install, but when it was rebuilt, i installed it again and it worked fine

all i can think off is that it was a low memory system and i had a lot of services disabled

I don't think it is SP2 causing the problem now NeoKenzo, as I uninstalled it, as MS support suggested and the problem is still here.

I have a Toshiba Portege laptop and it keeps crashing and bringing up a grey diagonally checked pattern screen which then goes blue. It's now doing this on restart sometimes and just at random times when I'm using word or the net. Occasionally it goes to the DOS start screen and I restart in last good configuration, but I'm sure it will happen again.

Would be very grateful for any advice on what it might be...

are you saying this happens before windows even loads?? sounds like its a screen problem and sorry but toshibas i have heard are renowned for having bad screens.

If it happens OUTSIDE of the windows environment then its not a windows problem.

No it happens after I've started XP, and as I say, usually when I'm in the middle of surfing the net or using word, so I think we can assume it's a windows problem of some sort...but your question has crossed my mind. I still wonder if it might be a problem with the display or the driver for the display or something.

Nothing would surprise me at this stage.

The most common problems people seem to have with SP2 stem from bad drivers. Try reinstalling your drivers, starting with your display drivers - preferably with WHQL-certified ones.

I have a Linux-based PDC, File & Print Server for my network, and it seems to have broken the ability to print to the unix machine's printers on an intermittent basis.

Just to give a low down, if you are an average computer user like 90% of people out there doing an install of SP2 over SP1 or previous version of windows xp will not cause any problems. However, if you have edited services, msconfig, the registry heavily you most likely will have problems and you will probably have to do a fresh install.
